Five reasons to Mind Your Emotions
“Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says ‘I’ll try again tomorrow’.” This quote more often than not reflects my life as an entrepreneur, business woman, sales person, mother, partner and friend. On those days and nights when I feel overwhelmed and sometimes exhausted by all my responsibilities and commitments that little voice reminding me to ‘try again tomorrow’ keeps me focused on why I am doing what I am doing – it helps me to continue to cultivate my resilience, to continue to put one foot in front of the other, to make decisions and to keep on moving. If I am ever in doubt, that little voice reminds me of all the other challenges I have mastered and that my track record speaks for itself.

Three Tips for Baby Boomers Staring a New Business
Women and men in their 60s and 70s are now busy re-inventing themselves, sharpening and learning new skills and beginning new enterprises. After quitting a corporate job or retiring from teaching many of you aren't ready to stay home and watch TV knit all day. You want to "do something!" It's no surprise at how many boomers," decide to begin a solo-entrepreneur business. Business can be a labor of love but it's also filled with challenges, and part of being a success is finding strategies to overcome obstacles. The Other New Years Resolution
"This year I will start my own business!" I call it "The American Dream Resolution," and like most New Year's resolutions it is a proclamation of intent that is often made, but seldom carried out (at least in an effective manner).

The Entrepreneurs Checklist
I was asked the other day what personality traits I thought were important to entrepreneurial success. I immediately gave my preprogrammed reply about passion and dedication and hard work. After taking some time later to ponder the question a little deeper (I normally operate in shallow waters), I came up with a more detailed checklist for entrepreneurial success.

Confessions of an Accidental Entrepreneur
I'm going to tell you a story about an Accidental Entrepreneur. The accidental entrepreneur was a highly skilled intravenous nurse who thought he could do a better job administering Intravenous Therapy services than the organization he worked for. So he borrowed $5,000 and started his own business providing intravenous services to patients in their homes. Because he took the risk of starting a business, he believed he was an "entrepreneur."AE

Business Plans 101: Part 2
A business has a substantially better chance of succeeding if the entrepreneur takes the time to write a business plan. Not only can missteps be avoided, but the process of writing a business plan also allows the entrepreneur the opportunity to think proactively instead of reactively. When dealing with the day-to-day needs of a business the entrepreneur is typically in “firefighter mode,” putting out the fires of the day. Writing a business plan lets the entrepreneur take a step back and think about the business in a “big picture” context. This article continues the discussion of what needs to be included in a business plan, specifically outlining what needs to be included in the financial (or "numbers") portion.

What it takes to be an Entrepreneur
What is an entrepreneur? Are you one? Do you fit the mold? The word “Entrepreneur” comes from the French word entreprendre (to undertake) + eur (-or). Thus, an entrepreneur is one who undertakes, or an undertaker. (Not in the funeral director sense.) One who undertakes to organize an enterprise. Just because you started a business or own a store doesn’t mean you’re a true entrepreneur.

The Spirit of Expansion
What exactly is an entrepreneur and how does it relate to small business expansion? There are many differing views on what makes someone worthy of this title. Investorwords defines entrepreneur as “an individual who starts his/her own business.” In a general sense, the word applies to any person starting a new project or trying a new opportunity. However, this definition leaves out other essential characteristics of an entrepreneur.

How to Start Thinking Like an Online Entrepreneur
To start a business you have to think like an entrepreneur but to be a successful entrepreneur, you have to also think like a customer and then translate those thoughts in to making your business a client-friendly business.

Inspirational Leaders Are True Professionals
I've mentioned before that there are two types of person, the Victim and the Entrepreneur. The Victim blames everyone but himself for anything that goes wrong, yet relies on others to take care of him... the Entrepreneur relies on herself and expects to take care of business. It should be obvious that only the Entrepreneur in each of us is capable of true professionalism.

Defining the Entrepreneur
How do you define an entrepreneur? Some would say that an entrepreneur is a well financed businessperson, who launches a new business with $20M in venture capital funding. Others would say an entrepreneur is anyone with a great idea and a folding table, a cell phone, and a computer in their garage! Both descriptions might be correct, but that does not really get to the heart of the matter of what truly defines the entrepreneur. This article examines three of the key elements that truly define the true entrepreneur in todays business climate!

Entrepreneurs and the Entrepreneurial Spirit
There are distinct differences in being self-employed, running a small business, starting a new business, and being an entrepreneur. Entrepreneur simply means ‘first to enter’, or the person who takes a plunge into a business venture, which can be in retail, services, or manufacturing. In other words, an entrepreneur is a leader, not a follower or imitator. Can entrepreneurial spirit be taught? Can we educate a population of entrepreneurs that reflect the likes of a Sim Wong Hoo (Creative Technologies) or a Sir Richard Branson (Virgin Group)?
