Sampling Success: How Bad Chef Ramsay Makes Good
“Chefs are s*** at running businesses,” says Ramsay. “When you look at the f***-ups with Marco [Pierre White] and [Jean-Christophe] Novelli, and what they’ve done in terms of how their businesses have disappeared without a trace, it’s because they’ve tried to run those businesses themselves.” Ramsay may be the exception to his own rule. An internationally renowned chef and a successful entrepreneur, Ramsay’s global empire shows no signs of disappearing. How did this temperamental man who once dreamed of playing professional football become one of the most celebrated chefs today?

Challenging the 80:20 rule
It’s probably the best-known and most-repeated rule in sales: 80% of your sales come from 20% of your customers. The implication is that you should focus the majority of your sales efforts on those 20% to maximise your returns. But it’s also the most misunderstood and misused rule in sales. 4 Ways We Kill Innovation
Yet when we separate innovation from our core business, set it apart as a unique process or proposition - we position innovation as "outside" our core business. We make innovation the exception rather than the rule, treat it as a point in time exercise rather than an integral part of the way we operate on a daily basis. Only when we embrace innovation as a conscious and continuous part of our daily actions can we reap the will rewards of innovation.

Balance or the Big Bang?
I like to swing for the fence as much as anyone. For me, the key to winning with big change or innovation is to make the Big Shifts the exception rather than the rule. An exception that kicks into overdrive when the time and the opportunity is right, not as a standard business practice.

Is Your Payment System Easy for Web Site Customers?
You would think that it's a simple process to take somebody's credit card for a payment. It should be, but it's amazing to see just how complicated it is on some Web sites. FTC New Business Opportunity Rule - Reduced Disclosure But Increased Coverage
Effective March 1, 2012, the FTC’s new Business Opportunity Rule1 becomes effective (the “New Biz Op Rule”). The New Biz Op Rule significantly reduces a business opportunity seller’s disclosure obligation to a prospective purchaser, as the previous format (the FTC Disclosure Statement containing 20 items of required information) has been changed and reduced to a 1-page form requiring 5 items of information that the seller is required to disclose. However, the New Biz Op Rule applies to more companies as, not only business opportunity sellers currently covered by the Interim Biz Op Rule will be subject to the New Biz Op Rule, but also work-at-home programs such a jewelry assembly and envelope stuffing, will meet the expanded definition of a business opportunity.
