Setting Goals -- The Fulfilling Way
1. Before you begin with this year's goals, do a "no limit list" for all areas of your life. For instance some areas would be: Career, Financial, Fun/Recreation, Doodads, Home, Friends, Family, Health, etc. Then under each heading, list what you desire. Keep in mind there are no limits for this list. So you need to pretend you have all the money, time, and resources you need to have all of it come true.

5 Lies You Learned at School That Are Holding You Back in Your Business
In the 25 years since graduating from high school, I’ve come to the conclusion that many of the lessons I was taught in school haven’t helped me succeed in my life and business. And I’m not alone. These damaging lies cost people friendships and fulfilling relationships, rob them of joy, and hold them back from having the success in business they deserve. But once you can identify the lessons, you can let go of the old baggage and take off the brakes that have been holding you back.

Nice or Honest?
I’m leading one of my martial arts classes on a hot summer afternoon. The air conditioner is working full-tilt, but only teases us with an occasional whiff of cool air. The students are fully focused and sweating through a set of choreographed exercises we call “kata”. After laying it all on the line they wait for my judgment... I ask, “Do you want me to nice or honest?”

Building a Leadership Team - Part 1
Talent is necessary for building a winning leadership team, but talent is not sufficient. You can recruit the very best in every functional area of responsibility in your organization, but unless they work well together, you will fail to create sustainable value. And in a competitive environment, you will lose to teams with far less talent if they work well together but you don’t. There is a tongue in cheek axiom that comes as a corollary to this – “I’d rather be lucky than good.” If you believe in blind luck, go with God and stop reading. If you believe we make our own luck, I’d like to share three principles for creating a great leadership team and some practical insights into each: agreement on the mission, clear communication, and balance. Pat1 = Agreement on the mission.

Sure-Fire Tips to Turn Off Your Negative Mental Chatter
Negative self-talk can be painful and distracting. Learn three strategies to interrupt your inner chatter so that you can refocus your attention on your priorities.

Time Management
During the past month I have had a number of clients who have brought the same issue to address: time management. “How can I be better focused so I can handle all the things that come my way every day?” “There has to be a better way for me to manage my time.” “My company seems to want me to do more with less! So, HELP, how do I do more with less?” “It seems impossible to manage home, kids, work and a life.” Sound familiar?

A Strategy That Dominates the Competition (And Actually Gets Put Into Action!)
The problem with most strategic planning exercises is that they result in a beautiful written document, but nothing ever gets done. In my experience, executives fail to implement strategy because they fail to complete a comprehensive strategic plan. There are three parts to strategy in any organization, and each is crucial. Most organizations skip one or more of these components, and that is why strategy rarely gets implemented properly.

Does Life/Business Coaching Really Work
The key to creating success and happiness is inside you. The job of a life coach is to help you expand your horizons, harness your inner strengths and inspire you to live a life of fulfillment. Empowering you to make changes, try new paths and explore new ideas is a major part of the coaching relationship. Life/Business Coaching can really work if you are coachable and open to new ideas.CC

Dreams Come True Series I: Passion Ignites Your Higher Purpose
Many of us had inspiring dreams as we were growing up. Often we abandoned these precious dreams, leaving them sadly behind. The Benefits of Exercise and Fitness Training for Entrepreneurs
Few months ago, the media was filled with the sad news of the death of “STEVE JOBS,” the legendary entrepreneur and revolutionary of the technology industry. He battled with cancer of the pancreas for years now finally kicked the bucket on the 5th of October 2011 at the age of 56; may his soul rest in peace. And just recently, Warren Buffett was diagnosed of prostate cancer. Health is a subject most entrepreneurs and CEOs attach less importance to. The reason may be the nature of their job. We all know that entrepreneurs are strapped for time; and they work more than their employees. Have you noticed that diseases such as diabetes, heart failure, kidney failure, cancer, high blood pressure, cardiac arrest are more common among entrepreneurs? Well, this is a bitter pill to swallow but it’s the truth.

In the Workplace, Trust is Fragile
Trust in the workplace is fragile. Companies and their leaders have added to the inherent suspicion people carry for their bosses by using the terms trust, teamwork, and transparency as buzz words. They hire consultants, hold special meetings, or do team-building and trust-building exercises. Then everyone goes right back to what they were doing before the feel-good exercise, nothing changes, and skepticism and distrust prevail. What is missing in these often empty exercises is that trust is personal. It is emotional. It is earned. It is a foundation that is built-one brick at a time.
