A Website or Blog is Worth a Thousand Brochures
The minute you print a brochure, it is out of date. Production is expensive. Distribution is expensive.

Lesson #5: Tap Into Today’s Top Talent
“I think it is a mistake to hire huge numbers of people to get a complicated job done,” says Musk. “Numbers will never compensate for talent in getting the right answer (two people who don't know something are no better than one), will tend to slow down progress, and will make the task incredibly expensive.”

Creating Your Own Buzz
Almost every business owner, from entrepreneurs who are just starting out to the leaders of large companies, is looking for ways to increase their sales, profits and visibility. Obviously, not everyone can afford a multi-million dollar advertising campaign to get their message out, so they resort to less expensive, guerilla marketing tactics that often can create the same buzz as an expensive ad. Here are some of my favorites:

G is for Gizmos
One question that I often get asked is “Should I buy some promotional products for my business?” By this, people mean should they buy pens, car stickers, calendars, t-shirts and so on. The theory behind is that these items will be used by people and will remind people of the business every time they look at them. My argument on the other hand goes like this. It’s all very well buying these items, but as they can be very expensive, it depends what you’re going to use them for.

So, You Think Marketing on-line is Expensive? Or is it?
OK, I am not the type of person that points out all the little obvious things about on-line marketing, but let's get to the truth...if you plan on getting in the market place, there are so many avenues and ways to go it could very well get expensive. So, expensive you price yourself right out of the market if you don't know what you are doing.

Myth Buster: Factoring Is Too Expensive?
One of the many myths surrounding the factoring industry is that factoring is simply too expensive to be considered a viable commercial financing option for the average small business. When someone tells me they think factoring is expensive, I ask them “compared to what?” Usually, the least expensive option is not the best one. In the end, the cheapest solution often costs more because it did not solve the problem.

Dealing with price or cost objections
Any sales training needs to address objections. One that is very hard for many sales people to deal with in these trying times is "your price is too high!" or "you are too expensive!" Whether you make your living in business development, tele-sales, knocking on doors, smiling and dialing, dialing for dollars or making new friends-being able to deal with "you are too expensive" or "your prices is too high in an honorable way is absolutely necessary.

A Coffee Franchise by the Numbers
Franchises often make expensive partnerships though many people find them far less expensive than building a brand new business venture. There are still plenty of expenses that go into building a franchise that are often overlooked until too late. Before you even consider buying into a coffee franchise you need to sit back and take stock of your overall financial situation. Business is risky, even going the lower risk route of purchasing a franchise there is no small degree of risk involved that you will lose your investment and perhaps any collateral you had invested in your business venture.

Don’t Let your Smile Run Away from Your Face --- The Piano Man
There is a song called The Piano Man that uses the phrase - "The smile ran away from her face." That phrase reminds me of the look on many Sales Managers faces as they discuss sales training at their respective company. The least effective and the most expensive method of training sales people unfortunately is also the most common! Although a new sales person may have experience, simply providing product training for your line card is just not enough. The marketplace demands that sales people provide more than product knowledge, a product catalog and a price list. If that is the type of training you provide, chances are it is the root cause of management frustration, low productivity and high turnover not to mention lack of profitability. Training sales personnel appropriately can be expensive.

Product Giveaways For Retail Marketers
Product Giveaways are a very good marketing technique for retail marketers. When a store has giveaways of non-expensive items, the recipients of the giveaways are very likely to want to buy a complementary product that is more expensive. This will generate additional revenue for the store. Product giveaways are often considered to basically be low-cost advertising. Many of the items that are given away are even promotional in nature. There are other benefits to product giveaways as well. One of these is that product giveaways make people really like and appreciate the store that is giving the items away. When people are being given something for free, they will often feel special and that their needs and wants are being considered and taken seriously.
