Expertise
| |
| As consultant and trainer I always teach the value of being an expert. There’s no doubt that as an expert it’s just as important to be an expert in not just product knowledge, but in your subject matter as well. This knowledge helps your confident in front of a customer or audience. It also gives you the ability to ask excellent and relevant questions. You can quote famous people and books to position yourself as an expert, but you can’t fake expertise very long. |

May I Quote You?
| |
| As an author, the question, “May I quote you?” is a humbling request and a great compliment. For anyone who is in search of excellence a good quote is fuel for our journey.
It’s amazing how a short, simple quotation can quickly provide perspective, inspiration, comfort, motivation or insight. What a wonderful return for our invested time - take 10 seconds each morning to read a new quote and our day, maybe even our world, is changed.

| |
| In the opening comments from a recent segment of the PI Window on Business Show in which I had interviewed government contracting expert and author Mark Amtower, I had made reference to the famous Louis Pasteur quote that “Chance favors the prepared mind.”
I would of course have to admit that I found myself reflecting on its validation as an axiom during a conversation with one of the top investigative reporters in the country, Kathryn May regarding a story that “broke” yesterday on the pages of the Globe & Mail. |

Why and Why Not?
| |
| I am reminded of a quote that became famous at Robert Kennedy's memorial service. "Some men see things as they are and say ‘Why?' I dream of things that never were and say, ‘Why not?'"
In our society, we have become so risk-averse that we often endanger creativity. We hire consultants to tell us what is possible, but they define "possible" by determining what has already been done. It is important to realize that prior to every great advancement of humankind, the experts of the day would have assured you that it was impossible.
