Schedule Your Day to Reflect Goals and Priorities - Part 2 - Align Those Goals
| |
| Now that you have your priorities firmly set in your mind, it is time to do a double check on your goals.
"What??!! Stephanie, I wanted you to tell me how to manage my time with the goals I already had and now you are telling me to do more work?"
In a word, yes. Please stick with me here though. There really is a method to my madness.
Often, we will create goals in a vacuum. Maybe we read the latest post from our favorite guru and decide that we need to hop on the latest project they are talking about. Or, maybe you have a goal on your list that someone else put there. . |

Smart Women Keep Their Inner Door Open
| |
| The article is about making sure that women are in touch with their intuitive selves. It’s important to create the space and time to make sure that we are living our own preferred lives rather than the lives of other people around us. Life is so busy today that if we are not careful it will slip away if we do not set aside that time to get clear and focused on moving our lives forward. |

Are You The Joker When Networking?
| |
| One of my favorite superheroes growing up was Batman. My favorite shows almost always included my favorite arch-villain too, The Joker! Jack Nicholson reprised this role of The Joker beautifully in the 1989 version of Batman the movie. I was reminded of this character at a recent networking event where I met someone who had what I refer to as "The Joker" smile. |

Get Over Yourself and Publish Your Prices Already
| |
| Jakob Nielsen has published his annual Top Ten Mistakes in Web Design for 2007. It’s classic Nielsen—high on quality, low on filler. Number 10 on the list is my favorite by far and always sparks healthy debate amongst my colleagues. (That’s probably why it’s my favorite.) Nielsen tells us to plainly answer your user’s most burning questions. Be forthright, not mysterious. And always answer the most obvious question which is “How much does it cost?” |

The Power of a Quotation
| |
| Last month I shared some of my favorite quotations from The Nature of Excellence gift book and asked you to share some of your personal favorites… and you sure did!
There were so many of them, I could not include them all. I did want to share a sampling of some of YOUR favorite quotations. Some were home grown expressions, others were attributed to famous people in history and one was even found on the back of sugar packet! Enjoy…

| “Do Something For Someone Today, With The KNOWING That There Is No Possible Way For Them To Repay You”
This happens to be one of my favorite quotes, by one of my favorite people, John Jackson. In this spirit of Christmas and out of the deepest appreciation for all of my friends and family this holiday season, I felt led to share this with you today. |

Blind Spots
| |
| In my classes and consulting work on leadership, I often discuss the concept of a blind spot where the worst leaders are often blissfully unaware of their problems. My own observation in numerous organizations is that this is abundantly true. Hr Managers and subordinates are often frustrated at not being able to communicate how leaders undermine the very cause they wish to pursue due to this blindness.
Daniel Goleman, who invented Emotional Intelligence, observed that leaders who are most deficient in EI are the ones who have the biggest blind spot. They simply cannot see themselves as others do, so they are deceived into thinking incorrect thoughts about how they are coming across.
How can you remove the blind spot of a leader who has low Emotional Intelligence?
My own ideas on this topic are contained in this article.

Letting Go
| |
| Letting go is one of the hardest things we humans can do. It's in our nature to hang on tightly to things that are safe, comfortable and make us feel good. Whether it's our favorite belief or our favorite teddy bear – we like to hang on to what we know.

Hitting the Sweet Spot
| |
| Anyone who’s ever played golf knows about the ‘sweet spot’. It’s that favoured spot on the clubface – hit the sweet spot and it feels good, you’re in control of the ball and that birdie is yours for the taking. If you don’t hit that spot, it doesn’t feel right, you spend your time hacking in the rough and before you know it you’re in a bad patch. |

Renewing Limited Government: Regulations
| |
| America's 40th president said many spot-on things about the massive growth of government his "progressive" foes always sought. One of my favorite quotes is this little quip Ronald Reagan had to say about the federal government: "It's like a baby. It's an alimentary canal with an appetite on one end and no sense of responsibility on the other...." |
