Security Theatre
Almost everything that happens before you fly on a plane is not as it seems. In order to deal with anxiety, the airlines put on a show. They've been doing it for a long, long time, and it's starting to show signs of wear and tear. The show is getting old and the lies are starting to show. Here's some snips from an Economist article (hat tip to the Freaknomics blog):

Are You The Joker When Networking?
One of my favorite superheroes growing up was Batman. My favorite shows almost always included my favorite arch-villain too, The Joker! Jack Nicholson reprised this role of The Joker beautifully in the 1989 version of Batman the movie. I was reminded of this character at a recent networking event where I met someone who had what I refer to as "The Joker" smile.

Smart Women Can Be Action Figures Too!
I find it fascinating when children place stickers of their favorite action hero on their bodies. They instantly become their idea of what that action figure represents to them. They truly believe that they are that person. This article is about developing a mindset that you, too, can become or accomplish any dream or goal that you envision. It’s about allowing your imagination to soar with ideas about what you want to accomplish in your life and how you want to show up authentically in the world.

Participating in an Overseas Trade Show
If you’ve ever organized participation in a trade show in the U.S., you know how much work it is! Selecting the right show, getting all the paperwork in on time, remembering to make hotel and travel reservations for everyone attending, deciding what your booth should look like….the tasks are seemingly endless! And doing a show overseas is that much more complicated, but the rewards can be great. Take a look at a few things which can help you prepare for an overseas show……..

Celebrating YOU: the Leading Lady of Your Show
You are the Leading Lady and director of your own show. You are in charge and fully responsible for how your show turns out to be. If your show is competing for the Academy of Life Award, which categories will it be nominated? Which awards will you win?

“Do Something For Someone Today, With The KNOWING That There Is No Possible Way For Them To Repay You” This happens to be one of my favorite quotes, by one of my favorite people, John Jackson. In this spirit of Christmas and out of the deepest appreciation for all of my friends and family this holiday season, I felt led to share this with you today.

Long and Short- Tailed Keywords
To research if you have discovered a great keyword there are some great tools that are available for you to use for free. A couple of them are Good Keywords, Google Suggest, or WordTracker. Go ahead and type them into the search bar of your favorite browser. Don't forget to bookmark your favorite one.

Letting Go
Letting go is one of the hardest things we humans can do. It's in our nature to hang on tightly to things that are safe, comfortable and make us feel good. Whether it's our favorite belief or our favorite teddy bear – we like to hang on to what we know.

When life knocks you down, get up
Author’s note: One of my all-time favorite posts. In a recent Laugh and Learn (our weekly show on B2B marketing featuring wit and humor) the topic was a great video on free hugs from Italy. Haunting music too. Really inspiring.

Social Media: Set Your Employees Free
Every morning while I’m getting ready for work, my two little boys get to watch some TV. My wife and I have decided that a little Disney Channel in the morning is not going to rot their brains, and we limit their TV time to 30 minutes each morning and evening. Today, I asked my three year old son what his favorite show was, and I was a little surprised to find out that Phineas and Ferb had replaced his previous favorite, Mickey Mouse. However, it quickly dawned on me that this Disney snub was hardly the result of the fickleness of youth. Since his exposure to television is quite limited, my son only watches five shows in total. Of the five shows he watches, two of them had already been “favorites” leaving him with only 3 actual choices (so Mickey shouldn’t take it personally).
