The 5 Golden Rules of Awesome Blogging
Whenever you sit down and decide to write for your bog always communicate in plain language. Anyone who traveled to a foreign country knows that speaking the native tongue is much better that using a translator or a dictionary. In the land of the web, things are no different. Learn the "native language of the web" and all the web surfers will read and understand you better.

How To Advertise Your Business For Free
I said over twelve years ago, that the low-cost or free advertising potential of the internet provides a level playing ground that allows most anyone to have an at-home business. However, neither then or now, does low-cost or cost-free translate into a free ride. In order to succeed online you must put in time, money or pardon the expression–-sweat equity. It’s truly not at all like the Kevin Costner movie Field of Dreams where "If you build it they will come." Someone, somewhere, somehow is going to have to promote, promote, promote!

Why Selling Is Like Racquetball
I finally got back into my favorite sport – Racquetball. It’s been nearly four years since I played. When we moved from New Jersey to Las Vegas, there were no clubs nearby for me to join. But they finally opened a brand new health club not far from my home. So I joined and am back to playing my favorite sport 3 times a week. I really didn’t realize how much I missed it till I started playing again. I guess after being away from it for a while gave me a new perspective once I resumed playing again because I was suddenly aware of several interesting analogies between this fast-paced sport and selling. Yes, you heard me. I can see several similarities between playing Racquetball and Selling!

Are You The Joker When Networking?
One of my favorite superheroes growing up was Batman. My favorite shows almost always included my favorite arch-villain too, The Joker! Jack Nicholson reprised this role of The Joker beautifully in the 1989 version of Batman the movie. I was reminded of this character at a recent networking event where I met someone who had what I refer to as "The Joker" smile.

Get Over Yourself and Publish Your Prices Already
Jakob Nielsen has published his annual Top Ten Mistakes in Web Design for 2007. It’s classic Nielsen—high on quality, low on filler. Number 10 on the list is my favorite by far and always sparks healthy debate amongst my colleagues. (That’s probably why it’s my favorite.) Nielsen tells us to plainly answer your user’s most burning questions. Be forthright, not mysterious. And always answer the most obvious question which is “How much does it cost?”

The Power of a Quotation
Last month I shared some of my favorite quotations from The Nature of Excellence gift book and asked you to share some of your personal favorites… and you sure did! There were so many of them, I could not include them all. I did want to share a sampling of some of YOUR favorite quotations. Some were home grown expressions, others were attributed to famous people in history and one was even found on the back of sugar packet! Enjoy…

Over $18,000 Raised in Hours Thanks to Twitter
“Do Something For Someone Today, With The KNOWING That There Is No Possible Way For Them To Repay You” This happens to be one of my favorite quotes, by one of my favorite people, John Jackson. In this spirit of Christmas and out of the deepest appreciation for all of my friends and family this holiday season, I felt led to share this with you today.

Long and Short- Tailed Keywords
To research if you have discovered a great keyword there are some great tools that are available for you to use for free. A couple of them are Good Keywords, Google Suggest, or WordTracker. Go ahead and type them into the search bar of your favorite browser. Don't forget to bookmark your favorite one.

Letting Go
Letting go is one of the hardest things we humans can do. It's in our nature to hang on tightly to things that are safe, comfortable and make us feel good. Whether it's our favorite belief or our favorite teddy bear – we like to hang on to what we know.

Three Tips to Becoming Your Customer's Favorite Rep

Social Media: Set Your Employees Free
Every morning while I’m getting ready for work, my two little boys get to watch some TV. My wife and I have decided that a little Disney Channel in the morning is not going to rot their brains, and we limit their TV time to 30 minutes each morning and evening. Today, I asked my three year old son what his favorite show was, and I was a little surprised to find out that Phineas and Ferb had replaced his previous favorite, Mickey Mouse. However, it quickly dawned on me that this Disney snub was hardly the result of the fickleness of youth. Since his exposure to television is quite limited, my son only watches five shows in total. Of the five shows he watches, two of them had already been “favorites” leaving him with only 3 actual choices (so Mickey shouldn’t take it personally).
