Action! Spielberg Lights Up the Screen
Spielberg’s first professional job came when he was hired to direct a segment of the pilot for Night Gallery. The success of this show led Spielberg to greater opportunities. After directing a few other segments, Spielberg finally got his first feature-length assignment in the form of a television show called Name of the Game. It would be the first of many successful forays for Spielberg into the world of television, including directing episodes of the hugely popular Columbo.

Lights, Camera, Action! Lucas Takes the Film Industry by Storm
In 1967, realizing that they had stumbled upon what could be a very successful business relationship, Lucas and Coppola joined forces to create their own production company, American Zeotrope. Their first venture was turning Lucas’ student film THX 1138 into a full-length feature film. After being received successfully, Lucas formed his own company, Lucasfilm Ltd., and began writing a film based on his experiences growing up in quiet Modesto. Completed in 1973, American Graffiti went on to win a Golden Globe and was nominated for five Academy Awards. Lucas had now become a recognized name throughout Hollywood.

I Am Iman, Fashion Legend
Supermodel IMAN needs no introduction. There's simply been so much written about her background, model career and marriage to Rock star/Musician David Bowie it would be repeating it heare would be redundant.IMAN has managed to brand her image and name as a fashion icon/legend. It is indeed why we chose to make her our feature during this month of the prestigious New York Fashion Week and to aptly title her feature as “I am Iman, Fashion Legend.” We caught up with the extremely busy Supermodel, albeit briefly, while she was in Canada shooting Project Runway Canada, a show she hosts, to gain a little more insight into her world, especially the Africa side of things.

Put the Competition in the Rear View Mirror
Competitive assessment is one of the most powerful tools we have in our quiver. Yet IMHO so few companies actually assess the competition in a way that works. We spend time evaluating our competitor's technology foundations, comparing feature against feature. We look for every detail that we can use to prove that our technology is far superior to that of others. Too bad that having the best technology doesn't mean you win....or that having the most features doesn't guarantee customer success. If the best technology won, then today's industry giants wouldn't be so, um, giant, now would they? Don't get me wrong. Understanding your competitor's technology and its capabilities is a worthwhile exercise. As long as you don't fall into the trap of defining your solutions based on their features - and become a follower.

Why is a Business Plan Important?
A business plan is a clear and concise way of putting your thoughts onto paper. Contrast to popular belief a bank underwriter does not give more favor or merit to a business plan that is 100+ pages long. Make sure you are being short and to the point. A typical length for a business plan can be 4 to 10 pages in length. Here are the major areas to consider when writing your business plan:

Small Business Jobs & Credit Act: What’s in it for Small Business?
On September 27th, President Obama signed into law, the much awaited Small Business Jobs & Credit Act. I’ve been surprised by how little most small business owners seem to know about the provisions of this law and what is in it for them. The most highly publicized feature of the bill is the $30 Billion dollar small business loan fund. For many or most small businesses, this may be the least relevant feature of the law. Other features of the law include tax breaks for small to medium sized businesses, tax incentives for equity investors in small businesses and some significant changes in SBA lending programs.
