Feedback Say it Somehow
It’s January and I can’t help remembering it as a time of angst when I worked in Corporate America. This was the time that people were spending hours writing up their accomplishments for the previous year. Managers it seemed only remembered what happened in the last month or two. Evaluations were done on a year’s worth of work. If you wanted your manager to remember the many good things you did earlier in the year, he/she needed to be reminded!

The Value of Feedback
What do you think about feedback? Do you recognize your staff and acknowledge others for what they do well on a regular basis? Do you use feedback as a positive tool to grow your business or do you avoid it at all costs?

Asking for Feedback
It is always wise to encourage clients to ask for feedback from an advisory board or their ideal clients when delivering new creative, be it for a web site, a brochure, a new logo or even a rebrand. It is also important that the client provide the creative team with background re who their audience is, how the piece will be used and what they are trying to achieve. In this article, I include tips on how to get useful client/peer input on everything from logos to web design, to content.

Feedback to See How Others See Me
An elderly gentleman went to the doctor and with a complaint about a gas problem. "But," he told the doctor, "it really doesn't bother me too much. When I pass gas they never smell and are always silent. As a matter of fact, I've passed gas at least 10 times since I've been here in your office. You didn't know I was doing it because they don't smell and are silent."

Is My Happiness Where I Really Think It is?
I have discovered that the topic of "happiness" is one of those taboo subjects that people don't want to talk about or get uncomfortable around. Which really is unfortunate because that same discussion could lead to some new information that could shift everything. Happiness, like anything else worth having, needs to be evaluated, needs to be worked on, needs new information and tools to pave the way for a greater level of happiness and requires our attention and commitment. Happiness is something to get excited about, not something to be feared or resisted. And happiness is available to everyone regardless of any current or existing circumstances. Now that's exciting. If you are open to some new infromation, please read the article. Warning: The reading of this article can cause more happiness!

Happiness every Day!
Too often I hear people say that they are waiting for something to happen before they can be really happy.

The Key to Happiness
In this day-to-day existence that we commonly call life, there are those rare and special moments when we rise above the fray and experience our true destiny. When it is all said and done, I believe that-more than anything else-life is about being happy in the active pursuit of making others happy. Most people are too busy making a living to really have a life. Happiness is often elusive and fleeting.

Pleasure vs. Happiness

Providing Feedback
Providing and receiving feedback, whether it is asked for or not, is a regular feature of interacting with others. We generously provide our opinions to others in the hope that they will change their thoughts or behaviours in some way. That is, in a way that we believe will be of benefit to them or us. But do they really hear what we are saying? Are we presenting our feedback in a way that the other person is open to receiving or at least considering?

When and How to Get Feedback on Your Book-in-Progress
If you’re writing a book, eventually you need to get feedback on your writing skills, the material itself, and whether or not your goals were accomplished in the manuscript. After all, the goal of writing a book is to communicate with readers, and if no one has read your book at press time, you’ll never know whether your message is perceived the way you intend it to be perceived. You can read it yourself over and over again, but you won’t be able to get a sense of how others interpret your book without letting someone else read it.
