These instructions are the deciding factor of how a search engine indexes your website's pages. The universal address of the robots.txt file is: www.domain.com/robots.txt. This is the first file that a robot visits. It picks up instructions for indexing the site content and follows them. |

Webmasters were trying to figure out what had happened and couldn't figure it out. After further analysis of the web sites and the web servers that they were on it was determined that their firewall was blocking access to the robots.txt file which in turn was causing their site to be removed from the index. |

But just what is a source file?
In most instances, source files will refer to project files which contain text that must be translated and localized. This could include graphics files (e.g. Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop) which contain editable text layers. The most common examples of a text-based source file would be a Microsoft Word file, a FrameMaker file or an XML file. |
