Lesson #2: Keep Your Costs Low and Your Quality High
“We only have one bullet in our gun,” says Sinegal, “the right product at the right price.” It seems to be a simple formula for success, but how has Costco managed to master it better than the rest? How has Sinegal been able to keep his company’s costs low, wages high, and sales even higher for the over ten years it has been in business?

SEO Page Rank - It’s not about Who YOU Know… ...It’s About Who Knows YOU
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is part science and part magic. Well, maybe not REAL magic, but there is a lot going on behind the curtain that most folks never get to see. Scoring a Top 10 listing in Google requires a scientific approach towards getting a lot of little pieces set up correctly. And then there’s that hunk of magic. If we were to give that magic portion a name, it would be called “Page Rank (PR).” PR is the technical term for an unknown, unrevealed, unpublished “magic formula” that Google uses to measure a website's link popularity on a scale from 0-10. So how does Page Rank (PR) get calculated?

If It No Longer Works for You Let It Go
Is there a part of your life that is currently dissatisfying to you? In the past things were fine and you were fine, but now you are not. Stated a little differently, the same relationship or situation that used to work for you no longer brings you the same feelings of contentment and fulfillment today.

How to Commit Brand Suicide
A graphic designer spoke to me last week. His graphic design firm -- let's call it XYZ Design -- was numero uno in designing labels for a large wine company. Let's call that ABC Wines. Now ABC wines had some really super wines. They loved the incomparable graphic design of XYZ design, and continued to use them for several of their major brands. This one client alone generated tons of work and income for XYZ design right through the year.

Wine store franchises
There are a number of wine store franchise opportunities that could help people benefit from a growing demand for high-quality wines.

Getting Better with Time: E&J Gallo Winery Takes Off
It was 1933. Prohibition was coming to an end in the U.S. and Gallo wanted to be ready to go when it finally did. Together, he and his brother launched E&J Gallo Winery. With Julio in charge of the vineyard, Gallo went to work looking after the winery’s sales operations. His strategy from the get-go was to market cheap, fortified wines to inner city markets. With 20 percent alcohol content, Gallo wines such as White Port and Thunderbird were first introduced to consumers.

Lesson #3: Be Ruthless and Rise to the Challenge
“You make the wine and I’ll sell it,” Gallo once told his younger brother. Gallo never wanted to be involved in the fine details of making fine wine. What Gallo wanted was to get out on the sales floor, to hit the streets, and to sell his stuff. He became known as a ruthless businessman for one reason; he was good at what he did and he did not let anything stand in his way. Gallo always got what he wanted because he was never willing to settle for anything less.

Lesson #4: Cultivate Your Capital Connections
Gallo was not your average wine connoisseur. He abhorred the snobbishness that surrounded the industry and remained firm in his belief that excellent tasting wines of high quality could be produced and sold at low costs. It was with that same attitude that Gallo approached his circle of connections. It did not matter who you were or what you stood for, if Gallo had something to gain from you, he was going to make sure you were on his side.

Finding the Fruits of Success: How Gallo Turned Grapes into Gold
Later on in his years, Gallo was asked by a reporter if he was still enjoying life. “More than ever,” he said. “With great wines like these to drink every night, who wouldn’t?”

With a Lease The Devil Is In The Details
This week we'll discuss the most important aspect of the process: signing a commercial lease (insert dramatic music here). One of the biggest mistakes many entrepreneurs make when leasing commercial space is not reading the lease. Forget reading the fine print. When it comes to a lease its ALL fine print

Life Accumulates in Our Personal Choice Accounts
A farmer prayed fervently every night during harvest season for a fine crop. He pleaded for crops as fine as his neighbors. After one night of particularly strong lamenting and pleading, the Lord finally replied. "Ben," He exclaimed, "How can I give you a harvest? You didn't plant any seeds last spring."
