Google's Retention Problem?
| |
| I had someone recently tell me that they were seeing more and Google people exiting the company after shorter periods of time. Assuming that's true, and it is anecdotal empiricism, has it gotten that much worse to work at Google, given its size, or is something else going on? |

Creating Your Own Buzz
| |
| Almost every business owner, from entrepreneurs who are just starting out to the leaders of large companies, is looking for ways to increase their sales, profits and visibility. Obviously, not everyone can afford a multi-million dollar advertising campaign to get their message out, so they resort to less expensive, guerilla marketing tactics that often can create the same buzz as an expensive ad. Here are some of my favorites:

Ever Dance the Google Dance?
| |
| For those who know Google well like us, the Google Dance is not a dance at all. It's when Google changes their ranking algorithm significantly to try to get better search results on a Google search. Google calls it 'improving the users experience'. Companies that depend on natural search listings on Google probably see it as the 'dodge the bullet' dance. They hope they don't get impacted much by the algorithm update. This comes along only 1-3 times a year and is referred to as the Google Dance and is NOT advertised in advance. |

Free Stuff -- Someone Pays Even for the Free Lunch
| |
| There is a whole group of people who grew up on the Internet that believes everything
that is out there should be free. Stewart Brand set the stage back in 1984 at
the first Hacker's Conference when he said -- Information Wants To Be Free. Information
also wants to be expensive. ... That tension will not go away.
The person who stole the pre-release of Wolverine thought it was neat that he
(or she) could give it away free. Millions viewed it -- free. Millions more refused
knowing that if they really wanted to see it they should pay someone for it.
At the end of the day an organization has to put money in the cash register so
bills will be paid and people will have food/shelter. There is no such thing
as a free lunch |

HACCP - A State of the Art Approach to Food Safety
| |
| A number of U.S. food companies already use the system in their manufacturing processes, and it is in use in other countries, including Canada. The ISO body has published the new system as Food safety management system as ISO 22000: 2005 as Food safety management system - requirements, which cover all FDA requirements through various clauses of ISO 22000. New challenges to the U.S. food supply have prompted FDA to consider adopting a HACCP-based food safety system on a wider basis. One of the most important challenges is the increasing number of new food pathogens. HACCP focuses on identifying and preventing hazards from contaminating food. |
