What You Want vs. What You Need
Real failure leads directly to transition. Real failure at midlife leads to transformation. When you finally reach that moment of desperation when all your best thoughts and efforts lead you to the brink of catastrophe (and perhaps over), you may then be ready to let go of what you want in favor of what you need.

The Electric Car
Quite rare and somewhat quirky in appearance, the electric car will take on a much more visible role on North American streets and roads in the next few years. Beginning in 2010, electric cars will capture a continuously increasing share of the motor vehicle market. How did we get here and what should we expect?

Decisions, Decisions!
Should I take this job or that one? This one offers security but is boring and has little room for advancement; that one offers a chance to grow but carries economic risks. Decisions, decisions! We face choices—big and small—constantly. Even the decision between two good things, such as a vacation in the sun or one on the ski slopes, can cause us anxiety. How do we decide how to decide?

Be on the Lookout For Desk Rage
According to a recent REUTERS article, workplace violence is on the rise. And to find the reason why, one need look no further than the economy. Job cutbacks, home foreclosures and high food and fuel prices are putting a strain on families all over America. Unfortunately, that strain is not staying in the home. It's traveling to work with many employees.

The Recession Is A Perfect Time To Grow Your Home Business
Some economist say we are already in a recession while others say it is slowing down and soon the U.S. economy will be booming again. I am no specialist on the economy but it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize that the economy is definitely in a “down turn” What I do consider my self to be is an opportunist

Eating For Success: Breakfast For The Busy Corporate
The first place that we cut corners when we are busy or stressed is our eating and in particular our breakfast. The food you eat forms the very building blocks of your body, but most of us have lost sight of the fact that food is fuel and that the purpose of eating is to provide our bodies with the tools they need for energy, functioning, building and maintenance. We eat for a variety of different reasons, none of which relate to the idea of providing our bodies with quality fuel. We eat unconsciously, we use food to fill emotional voids or to be sociable and we fill our bodies with things that we all know aren’t good for us – in effect, rather than using food as essential fuel, we use it to inflict damage on ourselves.

Women and Minorities Fuel Economic Growth and Franchise Expansion
From the leadership positions they hold, to the purchasing power they wield, women and minorities play an important role in the overall U.S. economy. Women and minorities have a presence in every industry and their contributions fuel economic growth. Hispanics alone account for 15% of the U.S. population, and by 2050 that number is expected to nearly double to 29%. The sheer number of minorities in the U.S. and the tremendous influence they have on the economy has led everyone from marketers to political candidates to develop campaigns that reach them. Franchisors also recognize that the pool of franchisee candidates is largely comprised of women and minorities who will be integral to growth and expansion of their franchise networks.

Four Ways to Fuel Your Passion
If you want to take that quantum leap towards achieving your goals, a great way to do so is to fuel your passion. Passion is what separates champions from the rest of the field, and can keep you going for the long term. Passion is what drives you to get you closer to your goals. If you’re about to undertake a major goal, make sure you follow these four things that will help fuel your passion.

Tough Times Need Laser Focus
The word on the street is that we are in the middle of a tough economy. Some even say that we are involved in a recession and that sales are tougher to come by now than they have been in many years. With fuel prices soaring, commodity pricing all over the board, the financial markets in upheaval, and the real estate markets still reeling, many companies, in a lot of different industries, are trying to recover from slumping sales.

Lesson #2: Grab the opportunity whenever you can
“When we launched Kingfisher [Airlines], we had certain very clear-cut parameters, brand-new planes, commonality, fuel bases between fuel efficiency and controlled costs, and then of course we did a huge market research on the name, the brand, the consumer expectations,” recalls Mallya. And yet, despite all of his hard work, the company is struggling to turn a profit. So why does he continue to put so much into it?

Satisfaction and Success
A recent consumer survey of satisfaction levels with respect to a variety of industries revealed that the airlines score consistently at the lowest levels of customer satisfaction. If you fly regularly, this will not shock you. I realize that with increasing regulations and skyrocketing fuel costs, the airlines are facing unprecedented challenges; however, it is important to note, with the same regulations and fuel prices, that one airline consistently scored good marks in consumer satisfaction.

All economics is local
The media tries to report on the world economy or the national economy, or even the economy in Detroit or LA. This is easy to talk about, statistically driven and apparently important to everyone.

Strong Leaders are Strong Communicators
It was the dead of winter in the middle of a very cold snap. As we approached departure time, judging by all the activity outside the plane, we weren't likely to leave on time. In a few minutes the captain announced, "You can see a lot of activity on our left wing. This is a maintenance crew trying to replace a defective fuel pump. We find it's best to fix a problem like that on the ground before we're in the air. The good news is that there is another fuel pump available here at the airport. The bad news is that it will delay our departure by about 30 minutes."
