Carbon Offsets: Creating Something Real from Hot Air
| |
| You’ve probably heard about carbon offsets. They’re everywhere these days, and it seems not a week goes that I don’t hear about a company pledging to go carbon neutral. And yet, it all seems so…full of hot air. What’s real? What do they really do? Which will make the most impact? How are the different purveyors, well, different?
I have a suggestion: Take a look at LiveNeutral. This non-profit gives you a direct path to making a tangible, tax deductible difference, and can educate your company staff as well, deepening the positive impact. |

High-Octane Success: How Rockefeller Reached New Heights
| |
| When Rockefeller was 86 years old, he wrote the following:
I was early taught to work as well as play,
My life has been one long, happy holiday;
Full of work and full of play-
I dropped the worry on the way-
And God was good to me everyday.

Worry in the Workplace
| |
| Worrying does not serve you at any time. It takes you away from your priorities, diminishes your focus and prevents you from engaging at your full level of competence and confidence. It robs your company or organization of your full capabilities and talents. |

Putting Your Mind to It Reaps Massive Benefits
| |
| Find a quiet spot, close your eyes, and begin to breathe deep even breaths – in and out. Think back to the times when you were “in the zone”, when you achieved everything you put your mind to seemingly simply by giving it your full concentration, your full attention, your full focus. Personal Alignment
| |
| At some point, most of us have experienced that vague feeling that something isn't quite right .... even if we cannot quite put our finger on what it is.
Maybe we feel we are running on a fraction of our full potential. Or that we lack the full measure of courage / confidence that we would like to have. Or perhaps we believe we have everything in place, but our intuition does not quite go along with this analysis.
This may be indicative that some "alignment" is missing. Here is a brief overview of some of the key elements of personal alignment, even if the full relationship between them is too complex to represent here.

Fuel Your Soul!
| |
| Think about what would be different if you approached each task you had to accomplish - feeling emotionally full. Feeling that you belong right where you are and that your presence makes a difference in those lives around you. Imagine the ease and peace and gratitude you’d feel if your ‘love tank’ was full. And don’t you think others around you would notice it as well? |

Is Your Glass Half Full or Half Empty?
| |
| We often hear people talking about whether someone's glass is half full or half empty, which is really a metaphor for how someone views their life or the world around them. If someone is negative or pessimistic, people might regard them as seeing their glass half empty. When people view their glass as half empty, they are looking at what they don't have instead of what they do. If someone is positive and optimistic, people would say they see their glass as being half full. Half of their glass may be empty, but they choose to look at it as half full. They are seeing what they have instead of what they don't. Which type of person are you? Do you see your glass as half full or half empty? |

Accentuate the Negative

| I’m one of those folks that is squarely in the camp of the glass is not just half full, it’s mostly full, so this post may seem a tad uncharacteristically, well, negative. |
