TV Isn’t a Contact Sport
| |
| You've probably spent a lot of time in front of the TV recently...Super Bowl,
Olympics, American Idol. Next up Futbol's World Cup...now there's going to be
a series everyone watches. You've seen your share of pretty good to decent to
OMG ads as well. Ah there's the rub. You only looked. You didn't interact with
them. You know watch the ad and jump online to visit their web site, tweet your
friends, go to their Facebook friends page, visit their YouTube ads.
No you sat there. You watched, had some liquid refreshments, popcorn/chips/whatever
and waited for the next play/event to take place. If you watched in a pub you
high-fived six/seven folks and ordered another round. Again not the interactivity
advertisers were hoping for. Maybe they're expecting too much of us...ya think???

Communications Tips
| |
| "The Greatest problem in communication is the illusion that it has been accomplished."
George Bernard Shaw
The great quote by George Bernard Shaw confirms what I have experienced in my 35 plus year career. And in my past 23 years in my own business, I cannot think of a single instance where "communication" was not listed as a problem, challenge, frustration, irritant, etc. in the focus groups, discussion groups and other strategic planning endeavors I have conducted. Communication is a challenge. And it is an opportunity for very positive impressions if one works at doing it effectively. |

A Ridiculously Easy Way To Increase Sales
| |
| So What Does Stir The Pot Mean?
I'm sure you've had this happen. (in fact - you may be experiencing it at this very moment)
You've been busy. Or distracted. Or focusing on something else (whatever that may be).
And during your "mental absence" your sales have slowed down -in fact, there's nothing simmering at all.
And you're starting to panic. Lots of heavy breathing, heart racing, 3 am wide-awake moments (and George Clooney nowhere in sight!)
Get out Your Wooden Spoon Lady!
It's time to stir things up a bit. |

Motivational speaker: Boxing Legend George Foreman
| |
| George Foreman became heavy weight boxing champion of the world. Today he is a preacher, entrepreneur and the spokesperson for the George Foreman Grill with over 1 million units sold. And yes a motivational speaker. What could George Foreman, a former boxer, say that might motivate you? |

Even George Washington Almost Got Canned Once
| |
| Did you know that in 1777, there was an effort to force George Washington to retire from the military service? I didn't -- until I took a look at Mark McNeilly's George Washington and the Art of Business: Leadership Principles of America's First Commander-in-Chief. |

The Knockout Entrepreneur: The Early Years of George Foreman
| |
| He went from being a lean, mean fighting machine to selling lean, mean grilling machines. At 6 foot 3.5 inches, George Foreman stands tall as a leader in the boxing world and business world alike. And, in both, he has risen to unprecedented heights of success. Considered one of the top ten greatest boxers of all time, and having sold almost 100 million George Foreman Grills, this is one entrepreneur who refuses to get knocked down. |

Work and Play
| |
| I will always remember George Burns stating, "If you love your job, you will never work a day in your life."
George Burns enjoyed his life and his work for a century.
If you enjoy what you do, you can substitute the "Thank God it's Friday" club for the "Thank God it's Monday"
club. Beyond what you do for a living, you will receive tremendous benefits if you enjoy the people you work
with.

The Awesome Power of a Smile
| |
| In his great book, Enchantment, Guy Kawasaki, which I review here – talks about the importance of smiling. I could not agree more, Guy. Guy advocates smiling so broadly, you get “crows feet” around your eyes – like George Clooney. |

Change or Be Changed
| |
| George was 53 when he had his first attack. He'd smoked for almost 40 years, was badly overweight, had an extremely high fat diet, and handled stress poorly. This warning shocked him into joining a smoking-cessation program. George and his wife also learned about healthy eating and improved their diets. Within a few months he'd lost his huge stomach, was very cheerful, and full of new energy. He was a changed man. |
