Those “Good Ol’ Days”
A popular joke goes like this: A former athlete (teacher, preacher, coach, etc.) laughingly says, "The older I get, the better I was!" There's more truth than fiction in that statement and, in a way, that's good. It certainly indicates the person is looking back and thinking of the good things instead of the negatives of life. That kind of attitude will ensure not only a longer life, but a happier and healthier one to boot!

How Are You Dealing With the Recession in Your Business?
As a business owner, we have an entirely different set of worries when something like the recession hits. Not only do we still have to maintain momentum and attempt to still drum up sales, we also have to worry about our families and ensure that no matter what happens, we'll still be able to provide for them.

Artists, Music, Audiences Change Labels Find it Tough
eems like half the shows on TV are about rising musicians/singers. But ask the MPAA (music folks) and their industry is breathing its last chest rattling breath. Quit humming around the house. Stop listeing to music on your iPhone, iPod, car/home radio because you're only prolonging the inevitable. How dumb can folks think you are because player sales -- all types -- are up like gangbusters. Pandora and other services are rolling in money. Our problem Ensure the musicians get their fair share. The MPA? Labels? Sorry folks those days are gone...you're right!!!!

Imagine a Bigger Market and You'll See a Bigger Market
Scientists in two studies at the University of Virginia discovered that softball players and golfers who had good days perceived balls and golf holes as larger than the players who had bad days. The question is, Did this difference in perception cause the player to have better days or did the day's performance cause the players to perceive the ball and holes as bigger?

What should I do with my tax refund?
Do you remember the good old days when spending our tax refund frivolously wasn’t such a big deal? Our jobs were stable, house values seemed to be on a never-ending climb and the stock market was booming. Things were looking pretty good. Well, we are all feeling a little less wealthy these days; our portfolios have been beaten up, the wealth in our homes have taken a blow and on top of all that, we are worried about our jobs and the stability of our income. There is a lot of insecurity or fear out there and so spending our tax refund on a great vacation or a new flat screen TV may not be the most financially savvy thing to do.

How to Turn a Ho Hum Day into a Great Day
A client was sitting on the sofa in my office the other day and used a great expression to describe days that are rather blah. She called them “Ho Hum” days. A Ho Hum Day is when you have done everything that is expected of you, but nothing that really makes you feel, “Wow, that was a GREAT day,” and feel good about yourself.

How to Deal with Dissatisfaction
Conquering general dissatisfaction can seem difficult at times and maintaining commitment can be problematic. The fact is that setbacks are part and parcel of growth and development. Being able to accept the bad times with the good times means being able to roll with the punches. Accept that there are good days and bad days and become more flexible and pliant to the obstacles in your way. Make the promise to yourself that no matter how dissatisfied you feel now life is only

Consider offering guarantees
If you put yourself in the position of a customer for a moment - this will help you to recognise a good method of encouraging your own business customers to purchase from, especially for new customers for their first time! You must have a favourite shop where you buy your clothes from in the high street or even on the Internet these days...and I would take a bet that one of your reasons for buying from this company, aside from the quality of the product etc. is for their returns policy. This is their guarantee to you that if you are not totally satisfied with the item supplied, then you may return the item to the store. A good example of a company that does this kind of returns policy very well is Ikea, as they have a returns policy of 90-days, which is much higher than most and look at how successful this company is.

Learn how to delegate tasks in your business
In order to have a good business you need to learn how to delegate tasks to your employees. Delegation is one of the hardest things for business owners to do - the thought of relinquishing control and allowing someone to do your work is out of the questions - surely? In fact it is not hard at all and is one of the best things you can do in business. There is a saying that even if your employees do things at least 80% as good as you do then this is better than you doing it 100% right. Take a look at your work for the following week and decide on which day you want to take off every week and then stick to that. Then take a look at the tasks you would need to delegate from your work load so that things will not fall behind because you are now only there for 4 days instead of 5 (don't tell me you work 7 days or even 6 days)...

TV Stations inventing the “good new days”
We in the TV business and elsewhere are in the middle of a revolution. The “good old days” are gone and we are now inventing the “good new days.”

Good Day? Bad Day?
We all experience the proverbial good days and bad days, but how we experience them and allow them to affect us is an individual decision.

The Changing Mix of Business Leadership
Guys we don't want to alarm you but there's a new boss in town and he's a she. Give them the right to vote and now they want to rule, run things. Heck of it is they're good at it...darn good at it! True you won't wake up tomorrow and females will be running everything but slowly, methodically they're getting positions of management, leadership. Good thing is they're doing a pretty good job. Bad thing is they aren't willing to go back to the "good ol days." Good thing is the good ol days weren't that good. Bad thing is treating them as an equal feels good.
