If you're a Dad working from home, you have the added distractions of wanting to spend time with your family while keeping the focus on your business and maybe you also take on some of the household, child-care duties too. Managing A 'People' Company: Beyond A Workplace of Robots
At good workplaces, it's common to hear employees talk about working in "a people-oriented company," or to hear them say, "They treat you like a human being around here." Or, "You feel like you can be yourself." Employees of good workplaces assume that it's a normal part of their working environment to feel like a human being.

1.13 Working safely out of poverty: Working Out of Poverty
The poorest workers are the least protected. More often than not, prevention of occupational accidents and diseases is missing from the agenda where they work. Hazardous work takes its toll on the health of workers and on productivity. It is unacceptable that the poor must be resigned to facing disproportionate risks to their safety and health because they are poor. South Asian countries are tackling hazards to workers, communities and the environment in the ship-breaking industry, and the ILO is working with them and other international partners to do so. We are showing that improvements can be made in working conditions and the environment in micro and small informal enterprises by low-cost investments that also raise productivity.

On the Search for the Flexible Working Environment
Creating a more flexible working environment is not as far fetched as it used to be. With the entry of the Gen x and Gen y clan along with 78 million baby boomers heading toward retirement, companies are easing their stronghold on mandating the typical 9-5 working environment. Myopic Leaders?
Scanning the overall environment in which you are working to ascertain threats and opportunities. A mindset that is constantly trying to position the organisation in a place where it can deal with any threats and take advantage of any opportunities. A broad vision rather than leadership myopia. The constant need for a leader to be creating and sustaining an environment in which everyone can be successful.

The Secret of Growth-How to get Compensated more
The other day, during one of my regular visits to my retail stores, I happened to give a small pep talk to my boys at the shop. The boys found it very valuable and insightful, so I guess I might as well share it with you. So what did I tell them during that pep talk that left my team feeling inspired? I asked them, “Why is it that you, working as a technician, working in a hot and humid environment, and physically involved in hard manual labor, get paid so low compared to a manager who sits in an air-conditioned environment with no physical labor to his credit?” The answer that I got was, ‘Because the manager is more educated than us’, ‘Because the manager manages the whole show’, ‘Because the manager makes decisions’, etc. Now, let me ask YOU the same question. What is your answer?

Leadership Insight: A Culture of Tattling
When we were all five years old, we couldn’t wait to tell on someone. Our job as little kids was to make sure than someone was held accountable for their buffoonery and with a little luck, it made us look good along the way. Unfortunately, that same behavior at age five can become pervasive and very destructive in the modern working environment. Team members telling on each other. Supervisors and leaders that validate the behavior. The creation of a culture of tattling.
