| Africa can absorb and manage increased aid flows. That was the consensus expressed at the plenary session. In his introductory remarks, Graham Mackay, Chief Executive, SABMiller, United Kingdom; Co Chair of the Africa Economic Summit 2005, made clear his view that there is no realistic alternative to continuing aid, with a doubling of flows needed over the next three to five years. This, though, he warned, runs against the present current of declining flows. |

The Attitude of Gratitude

| Humbly grateful or gratefully humble? In a recent sermon Dr. Jack Graham of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Dallas points out that each person in his or her lifetime will cultivate either an attitude or spirit of thanksgiving, gratitude and thankfulness, or an attitude or life as a cynic, full of anger, bitterness and arrogance. He expands on this by pointing out that a grateful child, by-and-large, is far more likely to be a happy child. He also says a person who is hostile, angry and critical, who is a fault-finder, is basically an ungrateful person. |

| Facility layout is not the first step, but the last action to take to position equipment, processes and people in a building. First create the right work flow, then the layout easily follows. Your organization is different from others; products, equipment, processes, building shape, routing, inventory practice. Your work flow and subsequent layout will also be different.

| Graham, cut-in abruptly, "OK, ok, let's let sleeping dogs lie, Johno's gone, and good luck to him, we will also see him at the pub on Friday, he's not going too far. He's a good mate, just tired and over-it and that's fair enough, it hasn't exactly been a party around here for a while. Let's move on to the present." I was impressed with Graham, he was a big man, and I felt his big heart, and from what I could tell he was the leader although the Greek wore the title of Managing Director. |
