3 Sources of Grammar Inspiration
About once a week I amuse the grammar troops by torturing some aspect of the language in my writing. Hey, I don’t do it on purpose and I love that I’m able to provide an otherwise cuddly group of individuals with a steady flow of chuckles.

Coco Chanel Bio
The Coco Chanel bio is a story that begins far removed from the opulence that her name would later come to represent. Born in Saumur, France, in 1883, Gabrielle Bonheur ‘Coco’ Chanel was the illegitimate daughter of a shop girl – who would die soon after – and a traveling salesman – who would abandon his daughter on the streets of France. It was her two aunts, with whom she was sent to live, who would teach the young girl the etiquette that would come to shape the Coco Chanel bio.

Following is a guest post by my partner Jason Mendelson. All of the thoughts and grammar errors are his. All of the formatting errors are mine.

Effective Writing: Where Have You Gone?
There are several poorly written articles circling the bowl on a daily basis, and this may end up being yet another one, but it's alarming to me that professional journalists consistently botch spelling and grammar. It used to be newspapers, magazines, and books served as an example of the proper use of punctuation, word groupings, grammar, and synonyms. Not anymore.

Smart Women Think Like 10 Year Olds!
This article is about reflecting on who you were as a 10 year old girl----before hormones and society began to manipulate your thinking. Are you still the authentic girl you were at 10? As women, we take on many roles between the ages of 16-35. Along the way, it can be a challenge to maintain our core, our authentic selves. It’s essential that we return to that place—our core so that we can live a full passionate and purposeful life.

Square Peg Round Hole
In his wonderful book The Element, Sir Ken Robinson tells a story that I’m sure many people can relate to. In it, a young girl named Gillian is having trouble concentrating at school. The school – suspecting a learning disability – asks her mother to take 8-year-old Gillian to see a psychiatrist for evaluation. After hearing from the girl’s mother how the girl is always disturbing her classmates, her homework is sloppy and always late – the doctor asks to speak with Gillian alone. Before escorting the mother outside for a private conference, the doctor turns on the radio in the room to occupy Gillian. As soon as the music began to play, the girl was on her feet. From outside the room, Gillian’s mother observed for a few minutes as she moved beautifully to the music, dancing around the room, lost in a childlike trance.

What makes a great website
What are the essential traits of a great web site? After you visit a site and you browse through it for a while, what makes you stay? Great design helps. Amazing graphics are eye catching. But the fundamental trait that makes a website work is the content. The content or copy of your website is critical. This is where you hold the attention of your audience and your word choice and grammar are critical. Misspellings and poor grammar are a quick turn off. If your content isn't easy to read people will go to other site to get information and buy. Copy writing is often one of those jobs that people think they can do themselves but probably shouldn't. We often help clients with their web copy to assist them in the creation of a professionally written website.

Write, right – is good grammar so important these days?
A staple requirement of any PR professional is strong writing skills and excellent grammar – but as the lines between traditional media and social media blur, are we both as an industry and nation becoming sloppy with our use of language?

Immigration, Wages, & Grammar

“…So you’re sayin’ there’s a chance?”
Okay, my tastes in movies are not very refined – I like funny and happy. Remember that great scene in Dumb and Dumber where Lloyd (Jim Carrey) and Harry (Jeff Daniels) have driven across the country to reconnect with Lloyd’s dream girl, Mary (Lauren Holly)? Lloyd: What do you think the chances are of a guy like you and a girl like me... ending up together?
