As Seen On TV: Popeil Goes From Poverty to Prime Time
Popeil now split his time evenly between working for his father and working for himself, selling goods on Maxwell Street. It did not matter what he was selling – shoeshine spray, plastic plant kits – Popeil just wanted to sell. “Through selling I could escape from poverty and the miserable existence I had with my grandparents,” he says. “I didn’t have to be poor the rest of my life.”

I was raised in a family of entrepreneurs. My father, my brothers and sister, grandparents, uncles, and cousins are all self-employed. So, why did it take me so long to join the ranks of this profession that I grew up in?

Getting Every Penny on the Table
When the parents and grandparents came I would listen and watch the interaction of the adults to the children and judge my packages accordingly. I would fine-tune my pitch when it was time to give them their change. My goal was always to take every penny . . . sometimes that meant selling a single punk. I always tried.

...and a healthy, happy and prosperous new year!
We – unlike our parents and Grandparents – will not be rewarded or honored for our hard work; but will be valued only by our knowledge and ability to design more effective and efficient strategies, tactics, and practices for ourselves, our employers or our businesses

Grandma’s Lesson
Thanksgiving this year was a fabulous family affair. We had the entire crew of aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, etc. including dogs and cats romping around my aunt Cherie’s house. My grandmother was there cooking up a storm despite having had brain surgery to remove a tumor just nice months before. What a woman.

Keep Looking Up and Take Back Our Liberties
Christians are just sick and tired of turning the other cheek while our courts strip us of all our rights. Our parents and grandparents taught us to pray before eating, to pray before we go to sleep. Our Bible tells us to pray without ceasing. Now a handful of people and their lawyers are telling us to cease praying.

Economic "Reform" Is A Dragon You Can Slay
The economy is showing scary signs. It's going to get worse before it gets better, and our generation may have to deal with the sort of privations and difficulties faced by our grandparents and great-grandparents in the Great Depression of the 1930s; I only hope it isn't even worse. Are you ready?

Help- I Need More Time – Part I
In all my work, coaching, consulting and speaking, the number one issue I deal with is “time management”. How can that be? We live in a time of all the technology our parents, grandparents and great-grandparents dreamed of, but never had. We should truly be laying back and enjoying life with plenty of time instead of stressing out on it.

The spirit of the 21st century is partly about laying to rest the ghosts of the 20th century
My Grandparents did not foresee spaceships, computers, cell phones or the Internet. My Grandparents would not have foreseen the scale of population growth either. When my Grandfathers were entering their teenage years in 1911 there was under 2 billion people on earth. Now just 100 years later there is around 7 billion! 2 billion was sustainable. 7 billion is not, let alone the 10 billion predicted for 2050. Today around a third of the world’s people live in poverty. We made great and arguably unprecedented progress in the 20th century. So far we have failed to manage the associated risks and in many ways we are like a runaway train running out of track very quickly. We must change our ways before it is too late.
