What we do have today is more choices than our mothers or grandmothers could ever have dreamed of. And that adds to our pressure and our stress and our guilt. We feel guilty going to work and leaving the children. We feel guilty staying at home and not bringing in an income to help lighten the load of our husbands. We feel guilty not being able to volunteer like we think we should. So what's a woman to do? Easy... Look at life as a Buffet Table. Fear is more incapacitating than pain. The paradox is that what we fear most is pain.
Let's say just for the sake of this discussion that there are 2 extremes - Pain and Pleasure. And only 2 life purposes - to have more pleasure and get away from pain. Pain and Pleasure. And the biggest "fear" in life is pain. What if we KNEW that the pain would not be as bad as we fear it will be. Like my experience at the dentist? How freeing would that be? Empowerment!
