Choice or Habit?
When life delivers a plethora of unexpected and unpleasant surprises, it can be easy and automatic to react negatively. Many of these reactions are unconscious and engrained in us as human beings. Throughout our lives, most of us are taught and conditioned to react to disappointments with sadness, unkindness from others with anger or defensiveness, heavy traffic with stress and frustration, illness and death with fear, and our mistakes with judgment. If I listed twenty activities, most would agree on the "common way" to react to each situation. But, who says this is how we "should" be reacting? Is there an alternative choice? Is there a more effective way? Or are we truly helpless victims to life's circumstances?

Winning Sales by Understanding Your Sales Process -
Your Present Selling System. If you’re in a business that is more than a few years old, it is a certainty that someone within that business has developed a system – or a habit - of selling that works for your market – if only in part. If that system is not the best it could be, then your sales are less than they could be. It’s really that simple! Does it stand to reason then that, if you understood the system you have evolved to sell your product (we’ll use “product” to include services), you may be able to use that understanding to improve or optimise your system – and increase your sales thereby?

Changing One Habit At a Time
Not just for the short-term but for the long-term

Create A Habit of Goal-Setting
One of the most beneficial habits you can create in life is goal-setting. As an executive coach, one of my biggest priorities with clients is to get them to set and write down goals on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis. By setting goals they dramatically increase success.

What Is Your Destiny?
The majority of people are controlled by, and operate in certain ways because of the power of habit. They seldom think of concentrating on why they have certain habits, or study themselves to see if they could make improvements in their lives. The good news is that you can literally re-program yourself for greater success in any area of life. By building your Power of Concentration, you can increase your awareness and focus on developing good habits.

The Business of Beauty: How Ash Changed an Industry
Ash once said that “people fall forward to success.” In her case, it seems she didn’t fall so much as she ran towards her dreams. With ambition and determination, Ash created not only a successful billion-dollar company but also one of the few to be featured three times in Fortune magazine’s “The 100 Best Companies to Work for in America.” How did Ash break through the glass ceiling of gender discrimination to become a household name around the world?

Lesson #3: Develop A Habit Of Hard Work That Works
When Walter Davidson first heard about the attempts of his younger brother and his friend to build a motorcycle, he was intrigued with the possibilities. After helping the two youngsters assemble the parts they had fashioned, Davidson knew there was wealth of opportunities that lay ahead. He immediately quit his railroad job and moved back to Milwaukee, finding work as a machinist, in order to help build the business. However, in its early days, the Harley-Davidson Motor Co. did not have enough funds to pay the four founders. So dedicated was Davidson to the new company, that he continued to work as a machinist during the day, while assembling the motorcycles at night. This dedication and hard work was a trend that would become ingrained in the corporate culture of Harley-Davidson.

Lesson #3: Power is in Bringing People Together
One might not think it given Luce’s fondness for being opinionated and straightforward, but part of the secret to his success lay in his ability to bring together talented people from a vast array of backgrounds to work together towards a common goal. And, although he liked being the one to articulate that goal, Luce was well aware of the need to create a strong and unified team if he was going to succeed.

Lesson #5: Take Time Off to Tune Up
When Orfalea first rented his little $100 per week garage near the USC campus, he was told his venture would never work. It was a pipe dream, they said. It was a business that would flunk as fast as Orfalea had in school. Still, says Orfalea, “I didn’t listen. I knew what I was going to do.”

Lesson #3: Own Your Competitive Advantage
When Schwab first launched his discount stock brokerage company, he made it a habit to outsource his back office information technology to other companies. At the time, that was the standard practice throughout the industry. But by 1979, Schwab began to realize that if he was going to grow and gain competitive advantage, he was going to have to own that very technology.

Maybe it was smarts, or maybe it was pure stubbornness, but when Hall set his mind on doing something, he followed through. And, much to the chagrin of those who invariably advised him against it, it in turn invariable worked.

Success Principle #39: Stay Focused on Your Core Genius
I believe you have inside you a core genius... some one thing that you love to do, and do so well, that you hardly feel like doing anything else. It’s effortless for you and a whole lot of fun. And if you could make money doing it, you’d make it your lifetime’s work.

Marketing Morality
Is that an oxymoron? Is it possible to hold a marketer morally responsible?

The Buzzard, The Bat & The Bumblebee
The BUZZARD If you put a buzzard in a pen that is 6 feet by 8 feet and is entirely open at the top, the bird, in spite of its ability to fly, will be an absolute prisoner. The reason is that a buzzard always begins a flight from the ground with a run of 10 to 12 feet. Without space to run, as is its habit, it will not even attempt to fly, but will remain a prisoner for life in a small jail with no top.

Where Are Your Habits Leading You?

Not Taking Vacations
Many Americans are giving up traditional vacations. The reasons range from having too little time off work to not having enough money to travel. But in many cases, people just aren’t in the habit of getting away from their jobs. All this has some experts worried.

The Press Release Triple Threat
PR is great, it’s not free, it’s earned, but when it is, it packs some very nice ROI. One strategy that small business owners should employ is to take their PR message online and directly to the prospect by consistent use of the age old tool, the press release.

Do You Suffer from Occasional Contentapation?
You’ve got a blog, you’re getting into the education based, content rich, web presence thing, but sometimes you just can’t think of anything to say. Don’t worry, you’re not alone and it’s nothing to be ashamed of. Millions of marketers have begun to complain about the symptoms commonly diagnosed as Contentapation.

How to change a habit
If you were a driver, then you would relate easily to this regular occurrence that all drivers have come to experience at some point in time. Many times I have noticed to my amazement that whenever I am on the phone (hands-free, of course), while driving a frequented route, I end up reaching my destination without even realizing it. All I remember is that I got on the phone and now I am parked at the destination. It’s miraculous how your brain takes complete control of where you are going without any conscious effort from your side, provided it’s a frequented or regular route. I want you to re-read the last part of the sentence ‘provided it’s a frequented or regular route’. You know why this happens? If you can truly understand the ‘why’, you will end up having the answer to most of life’s mysteries.

Taking a “Processing” Break
What do I mean by processing? Evaluating, judging, blaming, comparing, worrying, 'trying hard' to think one's way out of a problem, analyzing, getting caught up in the why’s - all are ways that, as humans, we can process with our minds.

5 Frustrations that Derail the Sales Force

Controlling Chaos During Expansion
Chaos, confusion and catastrophe are what Michael Gerber of Entrepreneur Magazine calls “The Three C’s of Business Failure.” It is not uncommon for a small business to be plagued with chaos. The best advice is to take control before chaos becomes habit. “Most small businesses are a hopeless mess,” Gerber says. Disorganization and confusion are irritating, but worst of all, they cost your business money. Chaos eats away at productivity and, ultimately, profits. How can you steer your business clear of chaos?

FINDING YOUR NEXT PRODUCT CAN BE A CINCH
Are you having trouble finding your next product? Online marketers who have done well with their first product should consider putting out their next product as soon as possible. Being on the ball will let you capitalize on the momentum that your first course offering has produced. Make it your goal to ride the wave of your success for as long it will let you be on board. Also, being in creation mode makes it far easier to put words on paper, WordPad or other forms because you have gotten yourself in the habit of creating content. Now is surely the time to strike while the online mouse is hot.

How to Develop Conscious Habits.
Many of our problems would be resolved if we just formed the right habits and stuck to them. However, we do not bring all of who we are to help us create new habits and we end up abandoning the very habits that we know would make us happier.

Think Rich - Don't Spend Money As If You Are Rich
Do you need to start changing the way you think about spending money? When you want something, you have to learn to ask 'how will I pay for this' - not 'which card has enough room on it for this'. It is a hard habit to break. Our brains are wired how we wired them - and if it's wired to use credit cards as an extension of your wealth, then it may take months to break the habit and dismiss the impulse to shop for something you cannot afford. Just stop, take a breath, and ask yourself 'How am I going to pay for this'. If it's not from passive income or portfolio income, it might be time to acquire some and then pay for the item. Start thinking like a rich person - not spending like you were a rich person.

How to Start Thinking Like a Rich Person - Start Small
To start thinking like a rich person does, you need to start small. Save a dollar, invest a dollar, and give away a dollar every day - make it a priority. You'll be amazed at how quickly your mind changes, and how quickly you start accumulating some cash!

One of our most challenging and often most destructive, habits is our tendency to focus on what we can't do rather than what we can. In NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) this is called Away From language. Like most things we do, it’s a learnt behaviour that’s crept up on us and has been allowed to run unchecked, eating away at our confidence and stopping us from doing the things we want or need to do. The problem is it's also one of the most pernicious behaviours going for stifling our creativity and personal development, the good news though is that like all behaviour, if we learned it, we can also unlearn it. Let me explain…

Work Skills Transcend Cultures Work Habits May Not
Since Chally is strongly established internationally, we're often asked what has to be done to alter the testing for different cultures around the world. For the past six years, we have been tracking performance on a Chally assessment versus actual performance on the job across many countries. Our goal was to develop a research database that would highlight differences that were based on geography or culture. For our comparisons internationally, we chose geographic, cultural, and economic regions that were very different. These included England, Sweden, Denmark, India, Indonesia, Australia, South Africa, Mexico and French Canada. The results were somewhat surprising, but very logical. Our research results provided clear evidence that the skill and competency scores are stable and equally applicable across cultures all over the world.
