Some people, however, still reach that point in their career where they simply know they need to do something different. Although this realization can be extremely liberating, it seldom comes without some sense of apprehension, confusion and uncertainty. |

Why you shouldn’t copy someone else’s terms of business

| Why you shouldn’t copy someone else’s terms of business
“Never Re-invent the wheel” was the advice I was given when I started in business. And that’s a great adage which I still use today. But if you are looking for a wheel for your car, you don’t go to the local cycle shop. That’s what some people do when it comes to their terms of business – copy those of another business and then realise (when it is too late) that they are completely unsuitable.

Why We MUST Reinvent The Wheel
| |
| "Don't waste time reinventing the wheel!" How many times have we heard this from software vendors trying to convince us their product is exactly what we need? Of course the wheels on offer come in many different shapes and sizes and we'll be lucky to find one that fits properly and performs well in our business for the next 5, 10 or 20 years. Unfortunately in the real world every business is unique and ours is no exception. This means we really have no option but to "reinvent the wheel" if we are to make the most of what computer technology has to offer in the long term. |

The Chakra System

| Chakra is a Sanskrit word that means “wheel”. The Chakra system is the belief that the body has seven spinning wheels of energy from head to toe, and each wheel offers life lessons to advance our souls if we choose to uncover them. The Chakra's are mapped out in the palms of our hands. |

HOW CAN A LIFE COACH SUPPORT ME IN GETTING WHAT I WANT ???
| |
| What do you want?
What do you really really want?
When was the last time you asked yourself that question?
Most of us are wrapped up in the day to day of our lives, and like a hamster, we run and run as fast as we can, panting and puffing, making a lot of noise running within his wheel, only to come out to have a look around and see that everything is the same, in exactly the same place. Nothing has really changed. From time to time, it is just necessary to stop and ask ourselves, what we want and if we are "running" in the direction of our dreams, and unlike the poor little hamster, going nowhere! |

Talent Development and The Wheel of Becoming
| |
| In the Buddhist belief, the Wheel of Becoming is a representation of life, death, and rebirth. The energy produced by one’s past actions (karma) are paid forward into future outcomes. Practitioners can determine their place within the concentric circles of the wheel, which delineate the various realms of being (see the graphic above).
In talent management terms, think of the Wheel of Becoming as transitioning from one level of personal development to rebirth at a higher level. There are many models of human development (see Jane Lovinger’s “Stages of Ego Development”, or Robert Kegans “The Evolving Self” to name but two). One that fits neatly with the concept of Wheel of Becoming, however, is “The Leadership Pipeline” by Charan, Drodder, and Noel.

Focus and Context: The Hub of Leadership
| |
| It wasn't by accident that we chose to arrange the timeless leadership principles in the shape of a wheel. Of all the principles, there is one that is central, one from which the others emanate, much as spokes radiate from the hub of a wheel. |

Moving Out of a Career Rut
| |
| Brian's head was starting to throb as he scrolled through the two dozen new voice and e-mails messages on his Blackberry while walking to his cubicle. Looks like another crazy day in the hamster cage he muttered to himself as he saw his phone message light blinking frantically. Brian, age 41, was growing increasingly frustrated. Despite working 50 hours and more per week (with an increasing amount of weekend work to "catch up") it felt like his career wasn't going anywhere. Work that once energized him now left him drained. Brian felt that unreasonable customers, managers, and co-workers were speeding up his hamster wheel just to watch him run faster. He had little time with his family and no time left to look after his health and fitness. |
