Happy Birthday U.S.A. And 3 Throaty Cheers!
There is a great deal of soul-searching going on in the United States as our 234th birthday arrives. Though nowhere near the soul-searching that loomed in Independence Hall 234 years ago today.

Leadership Strategy - Managing The Unimaginable
If you are someone who is overworked, stressed out, burned out, under-paid, and underappreciated, then read on to see what successful people do to be winners in their lives.

“New” Social Media Options Aren’t New, They’re Sequels
The excitement is almost unbearable. A new web-based social media service is unveiled. Will it be the next (fill in your own current fave)? Will it die? Nope social media can't be killed. For every mind-numbing IPO a sequel emerges from the lake. The only thing the sequel will give you is another chance to place your mark on the Internet forever...another way for you to waste your time telling the boss -- or yourself -- you're "working hard to protect the company, the product from the beasts." Life in the virtual world is fun, exciting, different from real work.

Strategies and Answers
On my mother's birthday last week, she and I and our dog went walking on the deserted beach we've combed a hundred times before. I followed the "birthday girl's" lead and climbed onto and around some rocks previously unexplored by us. Our dog was in salt-water, crab-shell-eating heaven. We marveled at the new mussel beds and contemplated a late-season harvest

Lesson #1: Give Back To Others
“One is only happy in proportion as he makes others feel happy. And only useful as he contributes his influences for the finer callings in life.”

Birthday Thoughts
It was my birthday on Saturday.

I'll Be Happy When...
We seem to spend a lot of time predicting what will make us happy (we call it daydreaming) and what will make us unhappy (we call it worrying). What we're really doing is wanting. We "know" what we want and don't want, and what will make us happy and not happy.

Profits are a liability
What do you want for your birthday? ....not a cashflow crisis...that is for sure!

Manage your Time so that you are Happy you Decided to...
Picture this, your 89 years of age, you realise that your life has been lived. Thinking back over it you wish you had bought that Mercedes, you wish you had been at your daughter's birthday parties, you wish you had more family time or you wish you had simply said yes. Wouldn't you love to find out how you could lessen these wishes into, I am happy I decided to. Believe it or not you can learn how to prioritise your time through time management courses.

Entrepreneurs and the Happiness Quotient
Entrepreneurs are seen as the happiest people in the world. But are they truly happy, making their own hours, working for themselves? Have you ever stopped to ask yourself, if you were happy? What does the word "happy" mean for you. Happiness is fluid, it is a process. Learn about the essence of real happiness in "Don't Bring It to Work" (Jossey Bass).

Are you standing out or blending in?
Broadly speaking I meet three kinds of people; the happy being miserable, the happy being mediocre, and the happy being magnificent. Only the happy being magnificent stand out and make a difference.

Fork It Over: The DOs & DON’Ts of Data Collections
In the digital age many of us are inundated on a daily basis with requests for information. From mailing lists to client surveys, everybody wants to beef up their customer data. Getting customers to fork over sensitive information is no small feat, and (as with anything) some ways are better than others. Take Starbucks for example. This year, just like last year, I received my annual Starbucks “Happy Birthday Free Drink Card”. As we always do my wife and I searched up and down the extensive Starbucks’ menu for the priciest drink. Eventually we settled on some sort of fruit-coffee-ice cream concoction for the whopping price of $7 (CDN). We drank about half of it. So how did Starbucks even know it was my birthday and why was I entitled to a free drink?

Stop Singing “Happy Birthday”
Do you know it’s technically illegal to sing Happy Birthday in public? Yes, that song has a copyright just like any other song and to sing it in public triggers licensing fees to the copyright owners.
