Lesson #1: Don’t Be Evil
“We have a mantra: don't be evil, which is to do the best things we know how for our users, for our customers, for everyone,” says Page. “So I think if we were known for that, it would be a wonderful thing.” From its search technology to its advertising to its own charitable foundation, Page and Brin have striven to create Google after the fashion of their own morals. The company refuses to place advertisements for hard liquor and donates 1% of its profits to charitable causes all in an effort to not “be evil”.

How To Avoid Being Complacent About Your Retirement
As an entrepreneur you're probably working hard and hopefully setting time aside to play hard. But are you saving hard? How much thought are you giving to providing for your "Dream retirement?" This article allows you to do the math to see how much you'll to live in the style you're accustomed to in your retirement.

Lesson #1: Make a Commitment to Your Brand
Many before him had tried, but Gallo was able to do something that no one else had ever successfully done before: he introduced wine to a country that was only used to drinking liquor and beer. How did he do it? By building a brand that would stick, and by refusing to abandon that brand in the face of market pressure.

Activity vs. Productivity
Most of us work very hard. We get up each day and spend eight hours or more doing something we call work. If you talk to the most successful and the least successful persons you can find, they will probably both tell you they are working extremely hard. If this is true, why are so few people actually getting the results they want from their hard work?

Sex, Drugs, and Alcohol
Think about it….Dating websites are packed. Professional matchmakers are showing profits greater than landowners. Michael Phelps is getting more publicity with paraphernalia around his neck than 8 gold metals. Local corner liquor stores are packed every night. The economy may be struggling, but these industries continue to flourish.

What Happens When You Try to Hard To Sell?
If you are in an industry that has been impacted by the recession, and you are doing everything possible to continue to bring in revenue, then you are working twice as hard, twice as long and twice as smart. If not, you are probably failing right now. Twice as long is plenty obvious. Twice as smart means planning the strategies and tactics you'll use for each opportunity. But what about twice as hard? Is that working twice as hard today and tomorrow or is that working twice as hard with every prospect?

The Hard Sell
I declare right up front that I am not, and never have been a fan of the Hard Sell. You have probably guessed that from all my previous posts. And if you ask most people about what they think about the profession of selling they will often describe something akin to the ‘Hard Sell'. Of late I have also noticed a rise in ‘hard sell' stories where people are being unnecessarily pressured to buy or sales people being pressured to sell at almost any cost. The hard times may be pushing some people to do things they wouldn't normally do like the "Hard Sell".

Why is Taking it Easy so Hard?
The real reason why you find it hard to take it easy is because (drum roll, please) you THINK it MUST be HARD. Seriously, that is the ONLY reason life feels hard. When you choose to believe that life has to be hard because that’s just the way it is, then you are deliberately (even if maybe unconsciously) creating the experience of difficulty in your life. In order to take it easy in your life, you simply need to come from a place where you believe it’s possible. Now, I know it isn’t always comfortable to change which is the main reason we get caught up in staying in situations that don’t feel good. However, I promise you that deliberately creating a love that you love is more than worth the initial discomfort.

When The Brewing Business Turns Deadly
If Kenya's historic Alcoholic Drinks Control Bill 2009 receives presidential assent, this will mean that brewers of such liquor will have to face stringent quality standards and inspections. However with the current enforcement agencies so far being unable to cope in preventing loss of life and blindness, it seems that more has to be done to ensure that the vendors lacing the brews with dangerous substances are stopped.

Backing Up Your Files Has Never Been Easier
Disaster can strike in more ways than just your hard drive crashing and just because your computer is new doesn't mean that the hard drive will not crash. Besides a hard drive crash there is theft, fire, flood, and any of another multitude of factors that can wipe out your important files once and for all. Fortunately for you, backing up your files has never been easier.
