| Hearing is a passive and subconscious use of our senses. Hearing simply means that your ears are picking noises. The Oxford dictionary describes hearing as ‘the faculty of perceiving sounds, There is no doubt that some sounds or noises will instinctively turn your hearing in to listening- a gun shot at night or a shuffling noise in the trees etc. To listen, one makes an effort to hear something, i.e. important news on the radio for instance. To listen is much more than hearing, it involves hearing a person attentively.

What Happens When You Try to Hard To Sell?

| If you are in an industry that has been impacted by the recession, and you are doing everything possible to continue to bring in revenue, then you are working twice as hard, twice as long and twice as smart. If not, you are probably failing right now. Twice as long is plenty obvious. Twice as smart means planning the strategies and tactics you'll use for each opportunity. But what about twice as hard? Is that working twice as hard today and tomorrow or is that working twice as hard with every prospect? |

The Hard Sell

| I declare right up front that I am not, and never have been a fan of the Hard Sell. You have probably guessed that from all my previous posts.
And if you ask most people about what they think about the profession of selling they will often describe something akin to the ‘Hard Sell'. Of late I have also noticed a rise in ‘hard sell' stories where people are being unnecessarily pressured to buy or sales people being pressured to sell at almost any cost.
The hard times may be pushing some people to do things they wouldn't normally do like the "Hard Sell". |

| A recent worldwide survey revealed that there are 6,800 languages and dialects spoken globally today. While I am often amazed how inaccurate communications can get, when you consider the number of languages spoken, it is somewhat amazing that we communicate at all.
It could be argued that most problems in human interaction arise from poor communication. Assuming that none of us set out to miscommunicate, it is important to explore why our best intentions to transfer knowledge, emotion, and details fall short. Remember, just because you're talking doesn't mean anyone's hearing. If they are hearing, it doesn't mean they're listening to you. Even if they are listening to you, it doesn't mean that they understand what you're saying.
