What Is A Life Coach
Dear Jane, What is a life coach and how do I know if I need one? What I do as a life coach is help my clients recognize and let go of the sabotaging thoughts and behaviors that have undermined their success, joy, and intimacy. We all have sabotaging thoughts and behaviors; sometimes it takes someone else to help us see them and to believe in us more than we believe in ourselves. So I’m also an energetic cheerleader and true believer. I will often see the possibilities for a client’s future before he or she can. My job is to inspire each person I work with to create an extraordinary vision and to become adept with the tools to create that vision.

Coping With Fear: Don't Believe Everything You Think!
Negative thought patterns can arise from stress, anxiety, fear, or even the past. Crippling fear, unfortunately, hurls many strongly negative feelings your way. But it's how you deal with them and proceed with your thought patterns that make all the difference. That is why it is so important for you to strive to take time to cool down and relax your mind before making important decisions.

Transforming Fear
Perhaps you have heard that if you fear something “Feel the fear and do it anyway.” That advice can be helpful to a point, but it has one very significant drawback: The fear is still there. So if you have a fear of cold calling, or a fear of failure, or a fear of success, or a fear of rejection, or – even more likely — some combination of all of these fears, summoning your personal power and acting in spite these fears is a brave thing to do, but as exhausting as running uphill with bricks in your pocket.

Laughter
Laughter is a great stress reducer. If you have never read Norman Cousins’ account of his experience of self-healing as described in Anatomy of an Illness, I encourage you to do so. When diagnosed with an incurable illness, he brought a movie projector into his hospital room and watched reel after reel of old classic comedy movies, laughing himself into hysterics. He found he could relieve his otherwise significant pain on a consistent basis through laughter. That practice, along with some other novel therapies, resulted in his healing. He left his prestigious journalistic career and taught on the faculty of a major medical school about the power of the mind and emotions in healing the body of disease.

When Fear Holds You Back
Dear Jane, I’m re-taking a short seminar and then starting my own business. But something is holding me back. I know it's fear, but so what! Good for you for recognizing that it’s fear and for not making excuses, which means you are ready to say “boo” back to fear. Here are a few suggestions you’ll find in my book, Enough is Enough!, in the chapter “Break the Spell of Fear: Make Fear Your Ally”:

Fear: Taming the enemy within
Every day I speak to managers, executives and sales personnel about what holds them back from achieving the success they want and earning the incomes they desire. Every day I hear the same thing: Fear. Fear of getting a no, fear of failure, fear of success, fear of rejection and the list goes on. But fear has a structure and when you know the structure, you can make it disappear.

Successful People Face Their Fears and Act
Fear is the enemy of self confidence. Self confident people face their fears and act. Procrastination is the manifestation of fear. When you find yourself procrastinating, figure out what scares you about the situation. Is it fear of failure? Is it fear of success? Is it fear of rejection? Is it fear of being embarrassed? Is it fear of the unknown? Once you've figured out why you are afraid, do three things; admit your fear to yourself, embrace your fear, and take action. Action is the antidote to fear. In most cases, you'll choose wisely and your fears won't be realized. In the cases when you choose poorly, you'll find that failure isn't as catastrophic as you imagined. Successful people learn from their failures.

Inner Healing with Fibromyalgia
The Author experienced fibromyalgia for 12 years and changes her mind-set for healing. It was an inner healing first by forgiving and loving herself and doing the same for others. Then attacking the problem one on one for inner healing. She writes about this in her books, "In Due Season," and "Poise for the Runway of Your Life." The author was able to step into her dreams and destiny without any symptoms of this disease and began to write books and model at age 51! Her story is on her website.

Fear and Relationships: Two More Tips for Value Based Networking
Very often, fear is what keeps us from maximizing our contacts with other people. Human beings are full of fears: fear of rejection, fear of failure, fear of looking ignorant or stupid, fear of hearing the word “no.” What you should really be afraid of is missing an opportunity because you didn’t make the contact.

Failure creates success! Part I
Fear of making a decision – because I might make the wrong one. Fear of failure – how will I look? Fear of taking the chance – I could mess up. Fear of risk – I could get fired.
