Business Management: How Clear Is Your Vision?
Vision, mission and values are supposed to be the beacon by which organizations set their strategic direction but how often do they align with everyday priority setting? Does your team share the same definitions for your organization’s vision? If you operate at a departmental level, does your departmental team share your department’s vision? If the answer is, no, then it’s not going to be easy to achieve the results you expect. Here are some helpful suggestions.

LOOK BEHIND BEFORE YOU LOOK AHEAD
Now is a great time to look back on the past year and gain some perspective on where you’ve come over the last twelve months and what you’ve accomplished. It is also the time to create a realistic personal vision for 2008. A personal vision is more predictive of success and satisfaction than socio-economic background, intelligence or educational level.

Visionarys Disease and the CEO
We all know the value of vision. The Greek philosophers spoke about it. Former President George Bush recommended attention to "the vision thing." What happens when an organization's problem isn't a lack of vision but too much? What happens when the CEO's vision changes monthly, weekly, or even daily-driving his organization crazy? Welcome to Visionary's Disease. If you are consulting to someone who suffers from it, you are probably very frustrated.

High-Level Decision Makers
HLDM. What is it? A new drug to counteract high cholesterol? The latest high definition, plasma TV technology? Not at all. HLDM stands for High-Level Decision Makers. And contacting HLDMs can improve sales performance probably more than any another selling tactic.

Creating a Brilliant Vision
If your organization does not have a compelling Vision, it is going nowhere. A solid vision of the future is the most important ingredient in any strategic process, yet often organizations just throw out a vision statement as a kind of placeholder to guide action. That is a crime. This article contains a solid process for creating an organizational vision that is brilliant.

The Value of Vision
What's your vision? Do you have one for your business? Is it aligned with your personal vision? Having a clearly defined vision, increases the odds you will bring your desires to fruition. Ask any successful business person and you will find they started out with some sort of a vision. Working closely with entrepreneurs provides me with an insider's view of what happens in their operations. Those most likely to succeed are the ones who have a clear vision, a picture which resonates deeply.

Sharpen your Focus with Goals
There is no question that effective goal setting can improve the performance of your department. Top performing leaders in all fields use goals to increase confidence, extend vision, and stay motivated. Use Demand Metric’s downloadable Department Goals & Individual Goals templates to break your high-level strategic plan into smaller, manageable chunks.

High and Low Sales and Marketing

Upgrading Performance Closes More Sales: Lessons learned from 14 year old hockey players
Performing at your highest level is difficult to do over and over again. It’s not your talent that fluctuates. You may alter and upgrade your game plan and knowledge level, but at the end of the day true high-level performance seems to be driven by something other than talent alone. I believe winning at the highest level, closing the biggest or the most sales, is based on the energy you bring – with all other factors being reasonably similar.

Realizing Your Entrepreneurial Vision
Question: Can you become a successful entrepreneur? Answer: Yes, but you can’t do it alone. Entrepreneurs begin by creating a vision. The vision states what your company does, why it is in business and what it will achieve. From this vision, a company strategy emerges. It describes the actions the company will take to make the vision a reality. Your company’s future pain and success is a function of 1) whether your vision serves the needs of the marketplace and 2) how successfully your company implements its strategy.
