5 Top Tips for Happy Holidays
| |
| From a distance, the holiday season looks great - full of warmth, laughter, cosy family time, beautiful decorations and delicious food. However, as an adult with ADHD, you know this time of year can be highly stressful. You have to coordinate and incorporate a lot of extra things into your already busy life. Keeping a tidy, clean house (for guests), money management (lots of extra expenses), planning ahead, organizing events and travel arrangements, managing your time and keeping in check perfectionist and procrastination tendencies could be a potential nightmare. But it doesn’t have the be. The key to enjoying the holidays is to find balance. Do enough so that you enjoy and celebrate the holidays, yet not TOO much that you are frazzled, burned out and in debt. |

Cold Barn Warms Me To The Bones! Can Blessings Really Warm More Than Our Hearts?!
| |
| Most of us believe a special blessing can warm our hearts. But do you think savoring a blessing, really capturing it, can actually warm our bodies? At least for a little while?!
Read about my experience, think about one of your own 'toasty' times and then you can decide what you think. Here's my 'toasty' time story...
I was just tweeting about getting myself all 'psyched up' to get 'bundled' up to head outside into the freezing cold.
It was chore time, a.k.a. dinner time. Our barnful of big, furry and feathery pets needed hay, grain and water-again. More feeding times and harder work now that winter was here and the pastures were all covered with snow.
Because I was so snuggled up and because it was colder tonight, I knew it was going to be tougher to get going this time. But I knew I had to go. I started lifting my blanket.. |

Energy suckers vs Energy feeders.
| |
| The biggest source of energy suckers in your life is yourself. You are the one cutting corners by not respecting your own needs, eating well, exercising or making time for fun in your life. Anything that takes the fun out of your life is an ‘energy sucker’ and anything that puts the fun back into your life is an ‘energy giver’ and feeds you energy. Identify your ‘suckers’ and replace them with ‘feeders’ that feed you with energy and enthusiasm. |

His Secret Recipe: How Hershey Achieved Success
| |
| From the plain and humble beginnings of his Mennonite family to becoming one of the richest men in America, Hershey’s passion for chocolate was matched by nothing except his love of children. Although he smoked between eight to ten cigars a day until his death in 1945, Hershey lived a long life, filled with both failure and success, lots of hard work and determination, and a concern for his fellow man. What was Hershey’s recipe for success? |

A CEOs Thoughts on Collaboration
| |
| I had breakfast with Matt Blumberg – the CEO of Return Path – yesterday. I’ve worked with Matt for at least six years and love the way his brain works. During my frustrating quest for the best chocolate croissant in Boulder (so far all of the ones I’ve found appear to be exactly the same – I’m guessing there is one chocolate croissant distributor in town) we talked some about “collaboration.” |

If You Want Customers to Be Happy, Give Them Less Product Information
| |
| Here's a counter-intuitive thought: Shoppers with less information about a product are happier than those with more information. Researchers at the Tippie College of Business came to this conclusion after conducting a study in which people were asked their opinions of chocolate and hand lotion. |

Productivity through Chocolate Reflections
| |
| So there I sat, staring at the candy and trying not to open the first one. (My will power diminishes after eating one.) Of course, I gave in and ate my first one.
I was surprised to see that on the inside of every wrapper are little messages. It is like a chocolate fortune cookie! With every one I opened, I found another productivity thought.
"Get Your Feet Massaged"
Now doesn't that sound wonderful? Chocolate and a massage! But there is a productivity thought here. So many of us work and work and never take time out to recharge. That is what this message is telling us. |

Your Value is Like a Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookie
| |
| Selling is a lot like baking. I love to bake. Every Sunday I make 3 batches of chocolate chip cookies for my family of three growing boys. Friends who stop by know the cookie jar will be full and ask to dip in. No kid or adult is immune and they can never stop at just one.

GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE
| |
| I could just tell by the look of them they were going to be difficult. There were going to want to split their meals, order a half salad, half French fries. They were the type that when they ordered a strawberry sundae it they would make some ridiculous request for a dab of whipping cream. Not a dollop. And God help her if one of them orders a milkshake. She’d be at the milkshake maker up to her elbows in chocolate ice cream. |

"We May be Poor but..."
| |
| It started off so innocently which made the contrast that much more painful. We were kidding around as our family often does at night. Ann had offered to make chocolate chip cookies -- favorites of Amber and mine. Then we discovered we were out of chocolate chips.
It was close to 9 pm and I wasn't excited about going out, so Ann suggested we make oatmeal cookies, then we realized we were also out of cranberries. In the midst of all this she said, "This is how poor people live..." or something to that effect.
That's it -- 6 words that felt to me like a 250 pound thug had struck me in my solar plexus. |
