Human Beings vs Human Doings
Have you gotten caught up in "doing" instead of "being?" It's easy to "do" in modern-day America, where we're constantly bombarded with messages urging us to run out and buy the latest sexy sports car or super-duty truck, or to deck out our spouses or ourselves with the finest diamonds and Rolexes. But as they say, money can't buy happiness (although it CAN alleviate a lot of misery). If you want true freedom, you should take the steps to free yourself of the psychological baggage you've built up about doing versus being.

Keeping the "Human" In Human Resources
How to remain grounded and recognize that human resources is not about numbers, it's about people.

The role of human and physical capital in growth: The Effects of Human Capital on Economic Development
We begin by a consideration of the links by which investment may affect the growth of output. Both physical and human capital directly impact on the productive capacity of an economy. However such direct effects may not be the most important.

Human and Physical Capital: The Effects of Human Capital on Economic Development
Human capital is a broad concept which identifies human characteristics which can be acquired and which increase income. It is commonly taken to include peoples’ knowledge and skills, acquired partly through education, but can also include their strength and vitality, which are dependent on their health and nutrition.

Are you a Human Being or a Human Doing?
Are you living or being lived? Going within is an often missed key to successful living. Without knowing what really matters to us, without the clarity that comes from self-knowledge, without the peace of knowing our actions are in harmony with who we are deep down, we often find ourselves flitting from action to action. Our focus centers on the "doing" of our lives and not the "being" of our lives.

Are You a Human Being or a Human Doing?
What's this personal time for? Anything other than work. Remember that gym membership? This is when you can actually use it. Or get a massage, visit a museum, browse the bookstore, or have lunch with a friend. This is [a part of] the time that will make you a well-rounded, interesting human being rather than a worker-bee "human doing."

Human 2.0
How are all the shifts in our world shaping our global society? Are we evolving in the right direction? Do we spend as much time upgrading and redefining our humanity and examining whether our thinking is keeping us stuck or moving us forward? Is the way we connect the dots about politics, relationships, business, culture, religion, diversity, etc. still relevant? We hear a lot about Web 2.0 but what about Human 2.0?

Are You Human?
People are like those websites that ask you to read squiggly letters and type what you read into the little box. Have you seen those? It's a security measure: the website wants to make sure you're human, and not a software program or a robot. Evidently robot software programs can't read squiggly letters, so if you can type the right letters into the little box, you must be human.

Human Resources Job
Advertising a human resources job available within your company is the same as any other position, and key to all of them is writing the most adequate and best possible job description that you can. Today, in a business world that has become so muddied with legal complexities, writing a job description is often delayed as much as possible, left to the last minute, or done with very little thought at all. But, by denying yourself an excellent job description – and yes, they can be excellent – you are potentially denying your company that one person that could be the difference between success and failure down the road.
