How To Make Money In A Recession With The Help Of Public Relations
Studies have shown that companies that stop all marketing during a recession are those that fair the poorest not only during the recession, but in the long run. Tough economic times are precisely the times that you want to reach out to and stay in front of your target market. They are also challenging times marketing-wise because you also need to be frugal and savvy with your marketing budget.

Fiesty Service: Prescription for Gloomy Times
Feisty is the source of initiative, drive and growth. It gets people out of bed and off to work early despite the dour news on the tube. It turns sleep walking, indifferent service people into joy carriers. It puts a smile on their face and a skip in their step--even in moments of doubt. Customers have always loved feisty service-service with spirit and enthusiasm. Today's customers need feisty service!

trader joes cracking the code of lifestyle brands
In a recent edition of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, we encountered a clever story examining the "unique" dating practices of a group of educated, single professionals. Frustrated with the bar scene and tired of being, well, single, these people formed a social group - a community - based on a unique common interest. In this case the interest wasn't mountain climbing, backpacking, sailing or wine tasting. No, the common interest that united this group of singles was their fondness for Trader Joe's. That's right, these singles gathered to celebrate their mutual interest in, of all things, a grocery store while scouting for potential mates. As one of the participants of the group (Trade Joe's Love!) suggests:

telling stories the brand connection
Today, we're interested in stories, and not particularly interested in facts. Every story needs facts, of course, but they are secondary. The facts are there just to provide some ballast for the story. There are always so many facts that don't fit into the story, and insofar as they don't fit, depending on our commitment to the story, we have a tendency to disregard them. Every good story has some connection to the truth of our experience, but the story's the thing.

Psst...did you know there is a secret to writing great copy? Imagine grabbing the interest of potential clients and customers simply by telling a story! Story telling is the key to having readers connect and look to you for more.

Fine Tune your Blog and Build More Readership using Contests
Remember the human interest angle is very powerful when a story is being told and (especially if you can say it really is true.) People are not only just interested in products or services. They are also interested in people and stories. So let's talk about a simple format to create a contest.

The Most Important PR Secret
What most entrepreneurs and companies don't understand is that often the main job of the PR firm is to find the right story. It's often not the obvious story that works, because that's the same angle that the competition will be pitching. Without the right story and tone, you have a weak campaign, at best. Finding the right story, that's what it all comes down to.

Build a Purpose Driven Website
Imagine for a minute, if you will, that you have just heard an incredible story about a new product on a news broadcast. The product sounded amazing. Almost too good to be true. The story you saw really piqued your interest and, although your confidence is low that it’s as good as they say, you decide to do a search on Google to find it. Well what do you know …. there it is … the top listing.

4 (plus one) Sure-Fire Tips to Grab the Media’s Interest
The story is king when it comes to the media. Your challenge is to discover how to pitch that story in a compelling way, in a way that will be sure to grab the media’s attention. But to do so, you need to find how to spark and hold their interest. The following are some sure-fire tips:

Pay Yourself First
Compound interest is the key to building wealth. Simply put, it means investing some money, earning interest on your investment, and then leaving both the interest and the principal in place so that you begin to earn interest on your interest (as well as on your principal).

4 Sure Fire Ways to Develop A Dynamite Media Pitch
When developing stories to pitch to the media, remember to focus on their needs. It’s tempting to focus on stories that talk about how great your product or service is, but that’s generally not going to interest the media. Your job is to come up with story angles that excite and interest the media. Below are some quick points to consider when developing your media pitches:

Five Keys to Promoting Positive Human Behaviour
When could human behaviour be more positive than when a person is totally absorbed - “in the zone” some might say - in a passionate interest pursued for no other reason than the intrinsic enjoyment of creating the experience. An experience they have freely chosen, over which they have total control, that creatively expresses their natural talents and develops their unique mix of skills and life experiences. That's the true measure of a leisure/recreation/sporting experience. For over 30 years I have worked in the field of recreation development, observing, supporting, encouraging and helping develop positive human behaviour in men and women of all ages and from all walks of life. From this I have gleaned the presence of five basic features of positive human behaviour.
