Integrity as a Catalyst
Integrity has always been one of the qualities I admire and respect most in others. The definition of integrity is: The quality or condition of being whole or undivided; completeness. Simply put, someone who lives in integrity honors their personal values - actions and choices align with an internal code. There is nothing inside that is divided; they are whole. Honesty is another dimension to integrity -- spoken words reflecting the inner world without distortion. Integrity is also about honoring your word and following through with commitments. defi

Excellence, Integrity, and Standards
Human beings are drawn to excellence, integrity and high standards. We know it when we see it. We are naturally attracted to these qualities. They are easy words to say, and sometimes harder words to live, especially consistently. Yet, when we do live these words, there are great rewards -- externally and internally. People admire and trust those who exude these qualities, and want to associate with them and buy their products and services. Yet, perhaps the biggest reward of all is a "deeper and more respectful connection" to ourselves, and a greater sense of personal power and fulfillment. Sometimes the short-term pain is worth the long-term gain.

Where is This Country's Integrity --- Navy Seals
Media sensationalism can have a dramatic impact on public opinion. It's often times hard to ignore. Think about the Tiger Woods incident or what the American Idol's Adam Lambert who Tracy used to adore until he performed his perverted sexual imitation on stage at the American Music Awards. Then there are the White House party crashers; the media just can't seem to get enough of these stories that really have nothing to do with the substance of society except that they demonstrate how low we have sunk. The major news papers and most of the television news channels just can't get enough of "Balloon Boy", "The Octamom", Tiger's Sex Life", "The Health Care Fiasco" and many other non sense stories and yet one of the most devastating- patriotism destroying morale destroying decisions of the century is getting very little coverage.

Successful People Build Their Brand on Integrity
Successful people create positive personal impact. Creating and nurturing your unique personal brand should be your first step in creating positive personal impact. Regardless of how you choose to brand yourself, you should build your brand on integrity. This means saying what you think. The video, "Ouch! Your Silence Hurts," suggests that you should become a "pro-active ally" instead of a "silent colluder" or "passive bystander" when you encounter a situation that doesn't fit with your values. This video is a wakeup call. It tells us that we shouldn't let words and actions that conflict with our values go unchallenged.

Building a Client Base for Business
Building any aspect of your business requires determination and persistence. Like the hyacinth flower that grows and spreads over the pond, our efforts are not immediately visible or rewarded. Add expert knowledge, dedication, integrity, honesty and willingness to go that extra mile or ten and you have the ingredients you need to develop your client base for a good business.

5 Skills For Patching Broken Trust
The best way to patch broken trust is to reduce fear and restore employees' confidence in the reliability, integrity and fairness of leaders and the organization. This article reviews five skills that serve leaders when diffusing employee distrust to mobilize productivity.

Success: The Collaborative Win
For some people, success is everything. Winning at all costs is the name of the game. Collateral damage is calculated. If someone is hurt in the process it’s unfortunate, but that’s the way it is. You will hear leaders say things like, “You are either with me or against me.” There is no middle ground. Some people call these leaders good business people. Others call them short sighted. Loyal followers abandon ship when it is clear the collateral damage includes them or when their personal values and integrity collide with business practices as usual. Is there a better way? This article looks at success from a collaborative perspective where winning strikes an effective balance between how work is done and the people who acieve it.

It’s not only what you say that counts, it’s what you do.
Your business core values announce to the world what you stand for and what is important to your daily operations. They form the soul of your team and by inclusion or omission are seen daily in how your employees treat one another and your customers. This article is the first in a series to explore six collaborative core values and gives you three ways to start benefiting from your values today.

How to repair trust after workforce reduction
Workforce reduction and the way it is handled either reinforce congruency or breaks it along with perceived integrity, reliability and fairness. When this happens, team work success and trust is compromised. This article offers two suggestions for successful entrepreneurs on how to repair workforce trust and explains the productivity cost of not doing so.

How Downsizing Damages Trust

Tiger Woods, Personal Branding and Success
Creating positive personal impact is one of the competencies all successful people possess. You create positive personal impact by developing and nurturing your unique personal brand, being impeccable in your presentation of self, and knowing and following the basic rules of etiquette. Your personal brand should be uniquely you, but it should be built on integrity. Integrity is doing the right thing -- even when no one is looking. As Tiger Woods's case demonstrates, a lack of integrity can lead to serious consequences for a carefully crafted brand. Now, everyone is looking and most people aren't liking what they're seeing. So take a lesson from Tiger -- one he's learning the hard way, build your personal brand on integrity.

Business Communication Still Works at Home
The myth is we behave differently at work and at home. The operative word here is “myth” - in reality, we should be the same in both environments. We should come from a place of honesty, respect, integrity and genuine behavior at home and at work. This article provides the key factors for leadership excellence at home and at work.

Part 1 - After the ball is over
The ball is very definitely over. A good time was had by all but what a mess to cleanup! This cleanup has been compounded by the errant behaviour of some of the leaders and organizers of the ball: unbounded greed, ethical standards have been eroded, personal values have been overturned, virtues have been diminished to the point of ridicule, morality has been questioned, integrity has been ignored, trust forgotten and the meaning of life seems to have been lost. This cleanup will be a massive task.

Integrity is the Key for Followers
Of the many traits humanity has, integrity is probably the must sought after in others. We desire truth and honesty but also that it be rooted inside each individual and not just only as a front. This is so vital in leadership that it has caused the failure of many an endeavor.

Build Trust Fast
Being trustworthy is not enough. Sales people must first overcome the stereotype.

A Business Network Makes You Powerful – Article 1 of 8
There are three key accelerators to a person’s success: integrity, knowledge and network. While there are other things that are important to success, these are key drivers. However, without a personal network you are powerless! The larger and stronger your network is, the more powerful you become. Most people focus their attention on integrity and knowledge. However, the highly successful business people have figured out that building their network is essential to promoting their uniqueness as well as furthering a higher degree of success. You cannot build empires alone. Nonetheless, even if you are not trying to build an empire, it is always simpler to accomplish things with many people’s help than to try to go it alone.

BOOK REVIEW: Joy at Work: A Revolutionary Approach to Fun on the Job (By Dennis W. Bakke, PVG, 2005 ISBN #0-9762686-0-4)
An engaging saga about one corporate leader who decided to operate genuinely according to some universal beliefs about people and about what he felt was important in a corporation. So many of us talk this stuff. He lived it! As a result, the company experienced great business achievement and he encountered stiff push back from his Board…when economic times got tough. If nothing else, this book will challenge your thinking: what does your organization say it values? Does the enterprise really believe it? Do you?

Release the Chains and Recover Your Life: Solve the Gremlin Problem!
Takeaway: Allow peace, rest and clarity in your life to attract the right people and resist the unneeded drama. Quote: "The gremlins persist until you DECIDE to loose the chains" - Tony Calvano It was the summer of 2007. It was quite a low point in my life. I had just finished a 40-day stint at an employer, and I was without a new opportunity for another 40 days.

Be The GPS For Your Buyer
Buyers have two identifiable responsibilities: * maneuver through their internal, behind-the-scenes buy-in issues to ensure a trouble-free change process, and * choose a solution that will address their stakeholder's criteria for systems excellence while maintaining the integrity of the system. Sales addresses one of these jobs, but not the other. In fact, we've never been taught the skills to help with the off-line issues buyers address: as per the explanations and skills offered in my new book Dirty Little Secrets, helping buyers maneuver through their off-line buy-in issues requires a wholly different skill set.

Future Shock
Adam Toffler wrote a book by this title about change in 1970. Many of the principles he explained then still apply today. But... this article isn't about change. This article is about compassion, leadership, integrity and "Mentors". Do you remember who your mentors were? Do you currently have a mentor? Is there someone in your organization that you really respect, someone you look up to, someone who's actions and words have a real impact on how you live your life, perform your job and think about your future? If you do, whether you or they know it or not, they are mentoring you. Or, you may be mentoring them. Of course it is much more effective if it is done in the conscious state and both of you acknowledge your independent obligations to the process.

Selling with Integrity

Live Consultant Thinking: Looking at Honest, Confidence and Integrity
We talk about things like honesty, respect, confidence and integrity. You and I are enough alike. Yet, with our individual minds, we see nothing precisely the same. It is important to business owners and their managers that everyone see the big picture, to better understand the business goals. I think it is equally important to question the big picture, to question and study what we are seeing.

How To Make Your CEO Brand A Leader.
What exactly is a CEO anyway? According to best selling author Warren Bennis in his book, "On Becoming A Leader," he sums it up this way: "All leaders have four essential competencies. First, they are able to engage others by creating shared meaning. Second, all authentic leaders have a distinctive voice. The third quality is that all true leaders have integrity. But the one competence that I now realize is absolutely essential for leaders - the key competence- is adaptive capacity."

Commitment, Your Word is Your Bond
There are very few things a person has control over. We attempt to live our lives righteously, use our time wisely, improve our health and hold our tongue, but circumstances often change our intentions. We plan to accomplish tasks, which are good, and honorable yet they are often hindered.

How to Increase Your Productivity
The biggest barrier to productivity is not a lack of time like most think. When you dig deep down to the core of the problem, a lack of productivity comes from a lack of integrity. Most people will say one thing and then do another. People who do this are not in integrity. This creates more work and leads to a lack of productivity. As integrity decreases so does productivity.

Honesty Speaks Loudly in Many Languages
Honesty being a component of integrity is a leadership characteristic with a universal value...leaders looking to lead effectively will not overlook its significance.

Ubuntu
The World Cup has begun in South Africa. One cannot help but pause at the significance of such a unifying event being held in a place who's history is soiled by apartheid.

Lesson #4: Make People Your Priority
“Somebody once said that in looking for people to hire, you look for three qualities: integrity, intelligence, and energy,” says Buffett. “And if they don't have the first, the other two will kill you. You think about it; it's true. If you hire somebody without the first, you really want them to be dumb and lazy.”

Lesson #5: Make Integrity an Integral Part of Your Company
“It is easy to be big in big things, in big moments, when everyone is watching,” noted Watson Jr. “Real character emerges in the way we meet our routine, everyday obligations. Really big people are, above everything, courteous, considerate, and generous, not just to some people, in some circumstances, but to everyone all the time. One of the reasons we are known as a great company is that we are known as a company made up of people like that.”

Lesson #3: Promote the Principle of Professional Discipline
“While you are responsible to your clients for sales results, you are responsible to consumers for the kind of advertising you bring into their homes,” said Ogilvy. “I abhor advertising that is blatant, dull, or dishonest. Agencies which transgress this principle are not widely respected.” When it came to running his advertising agency, Ogilvy was a professional to the core. He insisted on maintaining the highest of standards in both the ads the company created and the way he treated the people with whom he worked.

The Message Behind the Man: How Ogilvy Achieved Success
Thirty-three years after he first began his own advertising agency, Ogilvy wrote a memo to his staff entitled “Will Any Agency Hire This Man?” In it, he wrote, “He is 38, and unemployed. He dropped out of college. He has been a cook, a salesman, a diplomatist and a farmer. He knows nothing about marketing and has never written any copy. He professes to be interested in advertising as a career (at the age of 38!) and is ready to go to work for $5,000 a year.” Fortunately, a London firm did hire him, and there was no looking back for Ogilvy. How he did someone with no advertising experience end up shaping the entire industry?

Seasons of Success: How Sharp Took His Hotel To The Top
“I started just from building one [hotel], it worked so let’s build another, and it worked so three went to four,” recalls Sharp. “It’s a matter of what I call stepping-stones.” He may not have set out to create the world’s largest network of luxury hotels, but that is exactly what happened. In the over forty years since he first entered the business, Sharp has taken the hotel industry by storm, transforming the idea of service and quality, and doing things on his own terms. What were the factors that helped this Canadian hotelier succeed?

Lesson #3: “Integrity is how I do business. That’s my main asset.”
Foreman might be one of the most well-known celebrities thanks to his seemingly endless string of product endorsements. Indeed, he now readily admits to being more well-known for his George Foreman Grills than he ever was for his champion boxing career. Still, Foreman did not approach the idea of lending his name to a product lightly. No matter how small the product, Foreman cross-checked the product with his own personal beliefs, and refused to attach himself to anything that did not meet his standards.

The Power of Asking: 7 Ways to Boost Your Business
The gift called “asking” has been around for a long, long time. One of life’s fundamental truths states, “Ask and you shall receive.” Kids are masters at using this gift, but we adults seem to have lost our ability to ask. We come up with all sorts of excuses and reasons to avoid any possibility of rejection.

In Summary...
I've been working on various forms of my Master Presentation, pretty much fulltime, for the last couple of weeks. A Post yesterday started a rather vigorous discussion about success "rules" that withstand the test of time. Virtually nothing—you, me, the corporation, the nation—withstands the test of time. And one of the principal reasons is hardening of the philosophical arteries—increasingly rigid interpretations of yesterday's "success" rules.

Living with Integrity
”What I do is who I am” Chris Schenkel. Several years ago I heard about an ad placed in a sports magazine advising hunters how not to scatter their shots. The ad said, “For one dollar we’ll give you that information.” Many people sent their dollar and the advice was, “Just use one shot.” While the ad was deceptive, and I’m certain many of the respondents were irritated at being taken in, the advice was good.

A Philosophy To Live By
Wisdom goes back a long way and comes in the form of examples, illustrations, stories, cliches, parables, etc. One of the oldest bits of philosophy says that “for want of a nail a shoe was lost, for want of a shoe a horse was lost, for want of a horse a rider was lost, for want of a rider a leader was lost, for want of a leader a battle was lost, for want of a victory a war was lost, for want of a plan a nation was lost.”

Lesson #1: “Personal relationships are always the key to good business”
“I guess we keep on trying to look after the people that look after us. If we don't look after one another, we can't win. Now, you don't retain customers unless you have a combination of what I call the TIL principle – trust, integrity and loyalty,” says Fox. “I look at a lot of the people I initially employed. And the aspect of loyalty was 100 per cent. Maybe the ability was 90 per cent, but I'd rather have that than a reverse position of it.”

I know that this is probably a strange title to most people. There are probably thousands of articles on how to make money from home. What Does Integrity Have To Do With Your Company?
Integrity is the hallmark of a person with high morale character. Each day we all have opportunities to show our integrity by the choices that we make – both personally and professionally. Sadly many times what we hear and read are examples of people with little or no integrity. It’s the people that make the business. The dictionary defines integrity as steadfast adherence to a strict moral or ethical code, being unimpaired, sound, whole and undivided; completeness. As a leader, where do you see integrity or lack of integrity in your team or organization? What steps can be taken right now to raise your organization’s level of integrity? It takes 21 consecutive days of committed actions to change a behavior. Take the time to make an honest appraisal of the rules, morals or principles that are guiding your business.

This week, Astronology discusses open communication, and how important it really is for an organization.

Profitable Online Business Ideas and the Recession, Keys to Success Part 3
In the previous two articles we talked about keys to success on a personal level. Ideas we can adopt internally to lead us to success, such as the need to change, the need to take action. Both are critical attitudes without which we will never succeed. If we are unwilling to change the things we are doing wrong, how do we expect to succeed? If we never take action, how do we expect to ever succeed? The next attitude I would like to discuss is the attitude of believing in yourself. I believe this is the most important attitude we need to adopt.

So Who The Hell Am I?
Many facets of life, business, and even the perception we hold of success, are based on the foundation of our special relationships and our judgment. Special relationships can be used to endorse I am loved and wanted or I am dismissed and/or unimportant. So, for example, if I am not invited to the party or I dont get the promotion, or the bank wont extend my overdraft I can use my special relationships to evaluate my own worth in a negative sense. Rather than getting in touch with our own sense of who we are, we look to our special relationships to define us.

Why Ethics
Increasingly, commnents are made about the uneithical leaders we have. Who said? "If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don't have integrity, nothing else matters." Read to find out.

Anchor Text Relevancy From a search engine stand point it is important that the anchor text be relevant to the information that it points to. Entering 2008 Thriving not Just Enduring
Dear Jane, What do you mean by “endurance” and what’s wrong with it? I always thought enduring was a good thing. As we approach a new year, determined to make and keep our New Year’s resolutions (this time), I want to encourage you to resolve to thrive, not just endure. When I’m interviewed on radio or TV, I am always asked what the distinction is. I use an analogy taught to me by one of my mentors, Brandon St. John, some 25 years ago. When I saw it used in Al Gore’s, “An Inconvenient Truth,” I was both surprised and pleased.

Women in Business – Breaking “The Manly Myth”
So often, we women get tripped up by the way men have run our world. This isn’t surprising considering we’ve been taught by men that we must be aggressive and tough “go-getters” to be successful. Policies and Regulations: Constraints of growth-oriented enterprises
The enabling environment is important-especially as the enterprise grows. This would appear to be related to the fact that the larger the enterprise becomes, the more difficult it gets to operate outside the formal economy. In talking about the enabling environment entrepreneurs tend to emphasize macro-economic conditions per se, rather than specific regulations. This implies that they are quite capable of working their way through (or around) regulations, but that they find it more difficult to deal with economic downturns.

I have been dumbfounded recently by running into several long-time acquaintances who are down on their luck. These are guys who were used to first class all the way – restaurants, cars, private flights, yachts and houses. And now they have been dealing with selling clothes on eBay to pay the apartment rent, parking the car because gas is too expensive, and eating at McDonalds.
