| Making that transition from holiday mode to classroom.
How excited do kids get with the start of school approaching? Getting kids to go from the freedom of school holidays to move to that place of being settled and ready for school can be a challenge for some parents. Many children now days are identified as being ADD and ADHD I call these kids “go fasts” and the transition from holidays to school can be a bit more of a challenge for these kids. Become a Student Of Success And Change Everything
| |
| I heard this term long after I was a student of the learning environment known as school. When I was in school I never had good grades and becoming a success seemed to be something that was left for others. In school we are all graded on the merits of the people who excel at learning. This article is about how anyone from all walks of life can change their life to be anything that they want it to be. Its about how, after many years of believing that I had to settle for what life dealt me by not being good in school was something I could change. I heard that to change your life you had to change the way you think.

New School Year: Lessons from a Middle Schooler
| |
| Today is the first day of school in Michigan and I am the new mom to a Middle Schooler!. Time has flown so quickly. It seems like just yesterday that I was holding him in the rocking chair in his room. I remember looking at his little legs and thinking to myself, “some day his legs will hang over mine when he sits on my lap. I can’t even imagine it.” And now here we are, it’s been years since he’s spent any time on my lap. His legs would almost hit the ground, all in the blink of an eye. Where has the time gone?
I watch with amazement as he heads off to Middle School with nothing more than anticipation. Hallways to maneuver, new school, way more kids, lockers and classes to find. His elementary school is nothing more than a fond memory and he is ready to move on. I am so proud of him today!

Sales Coaching is Like Baseball - How Do You Rate?

| Really? Whiffle Ball in the back yard? Sandlot? Little League? Babe Ruth? High School? American Legion? College? Cape Cod League? Independent League? First Round Draft Pick? Signed by a Major League Team? High Minors? Cup of Coffee in the Bigs? Utility Player on a Major League Team? Every Day Player? All Star? MVP? Hall of Fame?
When it comes to coaching, most sales managers have done the baseball equivilent of Sandlot - they messed around at it and had some fun.

The Super Achiever Stuck
| |
| "Strive for excellence" was the mantra in the alternative school my children attended. It was a high priced, beautifully appointed campus made up of the best and the brightest. Sounds good, huh?
Not so fast. Now, years later I see the damage that stress and over achievement cost. You see, all the kids who went there drove themselves crazy being excellent. The translation of the word really meant, did you get all A's and how many fancy Ivy League schools accepted you into the rarified air of the privileged few. |
