Difference Makers Have Courage
| |
| When Jackie Robinson was brought to the major leagues by Brooklyn Dodgers owner Branch Rickey, he was the first African-American to play major league ball. At that point, Mr. Rickey carefully explained to him that he would have thousands of chances to lose his temper and get upset because of the overt racism that existed in the major leagues at that time. He warned him about the hate-mail and boos he would get because many of the white players and fans would be adamantly opposed to his presence in the major leagues. |

Digital Printing
| |
| Printing is a term that we are all familiar
with. Any one of you could show me
something that had been printed, and if it
had not come out of a desktop printer or
photocopier it probably would have been
done on a traditional printing press.
There is, however, with the advancement of
technology, a new method which can replace
traditional lithographic printing and it is
becoming increasingly popular for smaller
quantities. It is called Digital Printing.
In order that both areas are fully understood
we have explained the traditional process
below and have invited Robert Robinson-
Woledge from Management Graphics in
Reading to tell us about the benefits of
Digital Printing as an alternative |

Square Peg Round Hole
| |
| In his wonderful book The Element, Sir Ken Robinson tells a story that I’m sure many people can relate to. In it, a young girl named Gillian is having trouble concentrating at school. The school – suspecting a learning disability – asks her mother to take 8-year-old Gillian to see a psychiatrist for evaluation. After hearing from the girl’s mother how the girl is always disturbing her classmates, her homework is sloppy and always late – the doctor asks to speak with Gillian alone. Before escorting the mother outside for a private conference, the doctor turns on the radio in the room to occupy Gillian.
As soon as the music began to play, the girl was on her feet. From outside the room, Gillian’s mother observed for a few minutes as she moved beautifully to the music, dancing around the room, lost in a childlike trance. |

How to start off fresh each day
| |
| Maria Robinson said, “Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.” Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense.” As you may have gathered by now, it becomes imperative that... |

A Conversation With Comic Book Legend Jerry Robinson
| |
| On my blog Panel Surfing I endeavor to talk about the last true AMerican art form, the comic book, and especially original comic art. I was very fortunate to get an interview with Jerry Robinson - the man who created The Joker and Robin along with Bill Finger for Bob Kane's Batman way back in the early 40's - the Golden Age of Comics. But that is just the beginning of Jerry's accomplishments. |

Is it Intuition - or Fear?
| |
| Recently a client asked me "Jackie, how can I tell the difference between fear and my intuition? I know what I really want but I'm confused and afraid. I just don't know what part to listen to. What do I do?" |
