Product/Service Recommendations, Support…More Than You Want to Know
| |
| You have to love today's social media. Ok you don't have to love it because there is so darned much of it and it has empowered people. Problem is some people just shouldn't be empowered. Heck some should have their computers unplugged and their smartphones confiscated. But sites and blogs have done an excellent source of how-to (how-to install, how-to use, how-to fix, how-to replace, how-to get action) information. So if a company's support group is a little slow in responding, only following what their support check list tells them or speak in tongue there are people out there who can help. Use Bing (Google is so yesterday!) and find the answers. Just don't Tweet because someone might send you classified documents. |

Do Africans Ever Learn? Lessons from 10,000 nameless black men
| |
| I found this topic written by James Shikwati, Director Inter Region Economic Network very interesting. It gives a rather interesting perspective of the Africa stemming from way back in the late 1800s through to the present times. What lessons has the continent learnt from experiences such as slave trade among others. |

Playing Catch Up and Making Time
| |
| I have a friend who is always late. If he’s to pick me up, he’s late. If I’m to pick him up, he’s late. My son is the same way. I don’t know if this is a sign of passive/aggressive behavior or not, but it means when I deal with my friend and my son, I have to adjust my time. I tell them that events are earlier than they really are. I tell them I’ll pick them up earlier than I need to. I play their game. I hate it, but I know what I have to do to make time.

2 Cool Ways Einstein Makes You Money
| |
| Over the years - I've spoken extensively about how thank you cards are under-used by most entrepreneurs and sales people.
Inevitably someone will ask me "OK Kim, I'm guilty!! There's someone I should have sent a thank you card to...but it's been 3 months! I feel terrible. Is it too late?"
This is why you have to love Einstein. The answer is "It's never too late to send a thank you card!' |

Why you have to love Tech Stocks!
| |
| As someone who spent a lot of time as a Financial Planner after the Tech Bubble in the late 90’s, it is not easy to say you have to love Tech stocks. Why? Because, the Tech market of the late 90’s became the poster child of what not to do when investing. It became a cliché for anyone who taught people how to diversify and be a balanced investor. |

Lesson #1: “Don’t be afraid to change the model”
| |
| “I got the idea for Netflix after my company was acquired,” says Hastings. “I had a big late fee for ‘Apollo 13.’ It was six weeks late and I owed the video store $40. I had misplaced the cassette. It was all my fault.” |

Lithium is the Next Big Investment Opportunity
| |
| Lithium is central to some of the most popular technologies including mobile devices and electric vehicles. For the foreseeable future, lithium will be a major source of power for the new energy economy. Today, lithium is where oil was in the mid 1800s, and like oil, it will grow exponentially. However, lithium provides power without the environmentally destructive consequences of fossil fuels. |

People and Expectations
| |
| As you have already discovered, the world is full of all kinds of different people. Some of them mesh well with our personalities and expectations and others simply do not. This is not a problem in and of itself because all of these people put together make up our world as it exists.
The difficulty arises when we expect people to be other than what they are. For example, we all have a friend or acquaintance who is habitually late. If this is the only problem with a particular person, it can be dealt with. Over the months and years, we simply learn to build in extra time, because we know that they will continue to be late. The problem arises when we expect that late person to be punctual.

Horace A.W. Tabor, \"Silver King\" and Baby Doe Tabor
| |
| Horace Tabor is a true "rags-to-riches-to-rags" story of Colorado's Silver King of the late 1800s. Though it shows the pioneer spirit that made this country great, it also gives us lessons in persistence, dedication, devotion and determination to transcend all obstacles to reach a specific goal in life -- that ever-elusive "pot of gold (in this case 'silver') at the end of the rainbow. Because in March we celebrate St. Patrick's day, and the fact that Horace's wife, Baby Doe Tabor, is of Irish heritage, makes this a most fitting article for Mazon's March 2011 newsletter, Building Bridges. Please enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed researching it. |
