| |
| Tote bags with your company’s name and logo are among the most popular of imprinted products. Why? Because they’re the kind of gift that keeps your name out in front of potential customers for months to come. |

Get This Book
| |
| I scan a lot of books to find out if anything in them might be useful to you. Most of them are library books, and after scanning, the measure of how useful a book will be to you is the number of bookmarks I've placed in it. |

Inventing the Future: Franklin’s Career Sparks
| |
| Franklin was an ideas man; he lived and breathed education and the free-flow of knowledge. It was to this end that Franklin created Junto in 1727, a group focused on stimulating a dialogue on the scientific and political ideas of the time, later becoming the American Philosophical Society. He also created the nation’s first public library in 1731, which would later come to be known as the Philadelphia Library. |

Why Time Management Is Overrated
| |
| If you visit any library or bookstore, you'll see shelves full of books on time management. It seems we all want to "manage" our time, "get control" of our time, and start doing "what we're supposed to, when we're supposed to." |

It’s All About PR
| |
| You learn that, in the book world, PR is everything. When you walk into a bookstore, you are walking into a treasure house of 140,000 books. Online at amazon.com, there are 2.5 million books. Somewhere in your mind, dimly, you knew that, but nothing drives it home so much as walking into a bookstore and seeing rack upon rack of beautiful books and then you go find your section and see all the racks of beautiful self-help books and then... |

Double your failure rate if you want success in business
| |
| The mistakes we make are not as important as the lessons we learn from them
Recently I re read one of my favourite little books in my library. "If life is a game, these are the rules" by Cherie Carter Scott.
Her ten rules for playing the game of life are as follows;
1. You will receive a body
2. You will be presented with lessons
3. There are no mistakes, only lessons
4. A lesson is repeated until learned
5. Learning does not end
6. There is no better than here
7. Others are only mirrors of you
8. What you make of life is up to you
9. All answers lie inside of you
10. You will forget all of this at birth
THE RUSSIAN SUCCESS FORMULA. C - C - C - P
I would like to share with you a formula for success in all areas of life.

It starts in the Brain
| |
| Books such as the iconic “How to Win Friends and Influence People” (1936, Dale Carnegie) or “Think and Grow Rich” (1937, Napoleon Hill) are based on the premise that we need to get our minds right before anything else can happen the way we want it to. Look at the book shelves in any bookstore or library and today you will find a plethora of material providing the same basic message. There is no shortage of material explaining the “what”: there is, however, a shortage of material explaining “how” to enable one to shift the area of control in the brain so that everything else can follow.

Writing Your Own Obituary
| |
| Those of you who are consistent readers of this regular offering, realize that I rarely recommend specific books. Instead, I encourage people to read those books that will help them in the pursuit of their own passion. However, recently I have completed both of Tom Brokaw's books dealing with the Depression and World War II era-The Greatest Generation and The Greatest Generation Speaks.

The Forbes Formula
| |
| Over the last decade, I have been fortunate and privileged to develop an ongoing friendship with Steve Forbes. We first worked together in 1999 when he was producing a book entitled Great American Success Stories. After that, I began visiting Mr. Forbes in his office on each of my trips to New York City. Over the years, we have had many wonderful conversations sitting around the table in the library on the second floor of the Forbes Building. I have often wished I could include the readers of my books, those who watch my movies, and you who read these weekly columns in those wonderful discussions with Steve Forbes.
