Invest Time In Working With Your Staff
Where are we going? What's expected of me? What's in it for me? Where do I go when I need help? If your staff, particularly the customer facing ones, don't know the answers to these four simple questions, they may be moving your organization in directions you don't want to go.

Lesson #3: Be Realistic
“Passion can be a wild thing, taking you in many directions. Try to grab it by the reins,” advises Stewart.

Getting to No
I need closure. No matter what I’m doing or what happens in my life, I need to have closure with it. I hate loose ends. If something goes unfinished or there’s something that I need to know that would answer a particular challenge or goal I’m working on, then I get very uncomfortable. I feel empty, as if there’s a hole inside me that needs to be filled. If someone says they’ll call me, I expect them to call me, and soon too. If I have an argument with someone close to me, I need to get beyond it by settling the issue and making sure everyone involved is satisfied with the outcome. This even effects my driving. If I am given directions to go somewhere and I get lost or reach my destination another way by accident, that’s not enough for me. I still need to find out how to get there given the original directions.

Evaluating Your Vision Planning
So, here are some of the tough questions I’m asking myself. While at this point these are personal questions I am processing, yesterday I shared these with our staff for their input and to spur their thoughts in similar directions. I welcome your input if you have questions or thoughts that would be good for us to consider or if you have insight for a church at our stage of its life-cycle.

Driving lessons
Thursday morning I hopped into a friend’s car at 5:30am Central European Time for the one-hour drive from Bocholt to Düsseldorf in order to attend a BNI meeting. Since I haven’t driven alone in a car in Germany for over 20 years, I was a bit apprehensive. The night before I carefully mapped out the directions on Google, but lacking a printer I had only a list of directions and no overview map.

More Change Demands More Leadership
Change is a fact of life. And as the pace of change accelerates, organizations are being pulled in many directions by factors such as new technologies, customer demands, e-commerce, workforce demographics, business model challenges, fierce competition, shareholder expectations, shrinking cycle times, and shifting work ethics. Now, more than ever, organizations need the bonding glue of a strong culture to hold everything and everyone together.
