Obligations and Expectations
We start out life, given a set of assumptions that act as 'training wheels' until we're ready to strike out on our own. Sadly, some people never do.

Writers Master the Art of Brevity and Satisfy Readers
Time is precious, and readers need a reason to keep reading—it’s a fact of life these days when information is available almost instantaneously. Especially in the Internet, you must get to the point right away, as studies have shown that on average you've only got nine seconds to make an impression and hook a reader before he or she clicks away. Readers want to know why they should bother reading the documents you produce, and they don’t want to wade through dense, unclear prose, which is why writers can make their work more successful by learning the art of brevity.

Your 1000 Day Vision
This piece is about choosing where you are going to be in 1000 days (i.e., three year’s time). Before you skeptics come up with your “yeah, buts,” let me say that part of me agrees with you! I’m usually wary about the idea of having a grand plan knowing that plans and reality can be very different. Real life can sometimes turn out to be much better than our plans! But the idea behind this piece is to identify key areas in your life and to really visualize what you want in them. After all, this is about looking at who you would like to be 1000 days from now and making your fantasies a reality.

Work Life Harmony, Rather Than Work Life Balance
Work life balance suggests people are living two lives, one at work and one away from work. But people don't 'work' for five days or more and 'live' for two days or less. Work is just one of many roles that people perform in their week. No matter where they are or what they are doing, day or night, people are carrying personal baggage, problems, responsibilities, personal goals and work goals. Separation of work and personal life roles has become a blur and, to many of us, almost a seamless link. Family friendly policies are now only one aspect of the work life balance issue. Work life balance has become a key factor in attracting and retaining good staff, male and female in a buyers market generated by a shortage of quality skilled staff.

LEARNING TO HAVE FUN – EVERYDAY!
Even as I write the heading – it feels odd. Surely we don’t need to ‘learn’ how to have fun? Perhaps not. But I do know from the many people I’ve coached, having fun everyday is not something that happens very much. Having fun is often relegated to weekends, special days and holidays – and even some of these days aren’t much fun. This Tip looks at how you can increase the level of fun you have in your life.

Choices
The choice is yours. Question: Do you believe there is something you can specifically do in the next seven days that would make your personal, family and business life worse? Chances are good you did a double-take on that one and rhetorically responded, "What does he mean, 'make it worse'?" O.k., next question: Do you honestly believe there is something you can do in the next seven days that would make your personal, family and business life better?

How to change your life in just 90 seconds!
You know those self help books you see on the shelf at the book shop that tell you you can change your life in six months - six weeks - six days - Even 24 hours? Well they're right! In fact, all you need to do is follow the 90 second rule and you can begin to move away from where you are now and towards where you want your life to be. Just 90 seconds is all it takes.

Smart Women Live A Proactive Life
This article is about living a life that has a clear plan to take you where you want to go. Rather than “react” to our days, it’s more beneficial to be “proactive” about our days. It leads to a calmer life with goals being achieved. Being “Proactive” allows you to think ahead about your life and your goals week by week, day by day.

Stuck in the Middle... of Insanity?
You've probably heard the modern day definition of insanity, right? It's doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. Well, let's look at this more deeply by applying the Life On Purpose Perspective with it. Recently, I've been working with the challenge many people who come to Life On Purpose seem to have -- drifting through life. I sometime think of it as the "Groundhog Day Syndrome" because one day seems pretty much like the repeat of the previous days. I find many of my clients who are adrift in their life are much like a cork drifting around in the water, being buffeted in one direction or another by the "currents of circumstances."

SUNRISES AND SUNSETS
Let me start by wishing you all a very Happy New Year. One of my fondest memories of summers at the lake was sitting on the deck at the cottage (preferably screened in) either early in the morning with a hot cup of coffee and a blanket wrapped around me watching the sun come up or late in the evening sitting with a drink and in the old days an occasional cigar, quietly watching the sun go down on another day. It was always at these times I would reflect back over days past and wonder about days to come and where my life would take me and my family.

Keeping On-Course
There comes a time in everyone's life when you become extremely frustrated with your progress toward your goal. There are days when you seem to be making incredible strides, and nothing can stop you. Then, there are those days when your best efforts seem to take you nowhere. That is the time to "stay the course."
