Overcoming the challenges of an ineffective RFP process: Improved collaboration through intelligence synchronization (QStrat Profile)
| |
| I have had close to 30 reader responses to my recent posts on the utilization of the RFP or e-tendering process for the acquisition of goods and services.
While there have been successful demonstrations of its utilization relative to MERX (MERX: An Evolution to a Broader Market), and of course the Commonwealth of Virginia’s eVA program (Yes Virginia! There is more to e-procurement than software), the majority of respondents do not view the current process has being effective. (Note: links to the above referenced articles are available through the Web Resources section at the conclusion of this post.)

No Trespassing
| |
| It’s sometimes funny how everyday experiences can spark off thoughts about deeper things. I recently had an experience with neighbours about an unclear boundary between our adjoining properties that was causing confusion with access, maintenance responsibilities etc. There was no clear dividing line! |

“Multiply Your Marketing Results – Exponentially!”
| |
| Can you imagine what it would be like if you could exponentially increase the return you get for every marketing Euro spent? If you have ever gone fishing for mackerel you will probably be aware that on each line there are many hooks, this means every time you cast your line into the sea the number of fish you can catch is multiplied by the number of hooks on your line.
There is a way that you can apply this technique to your marketing so that each campaign is aimed not just at one prospect but many prospects for the same price. |

How to Make Money with E-books
| |
| One of first products I created to sell on-line was a ‘Management’ e-book.
I had 30 years experience of being a Manager and managing people so I thought that would be an easy and good start.
Thee years later, it still sells today.
“Create once, sell many times” is a motto I like! |

Pursuing your own Goals
| |
| Recently, I made one of my rare and infrequent trips to a retail store. It's not that I don't like to buy things. I simply do not enjoy the process of shopping, so I leave it to others.
While at the store, I took the opportunity to observe people who had selected the items they wished to purchase and were waiting to pay for their items in the checkout line. Some people simply picked the nearest line, stood in the back, and waited. Others roamed back and forth looking for the shortest line and waited there. Then there was the third group of shoppers who constantly got out of one line and got into another, thinking they would save time by getting in the faster-moving line.

We’re Both On the Same Side
| |
| One of my favorite stories concerns a young lad who was confronted by three bullies with violence in mind. Quickly, the little guy drew a line on the ground, stepped back several feet, looked the biggest bully in the eye and said, "Now, you just step over that line." Confidently, the big bully stepped over the line, preparing to commit mayhem on the little guy. Quickly the little fellow grinned and said, "Now we're both on the same side." |

The Fine Line Between Persistence and Stalking!
| |
| In sales, there's a fine line between persistence and stalking. In my experience, with the exception of prospects who are already in the sales cycle, that line is usually drawn at about once every 6 weeks. So given that you only have once every 6 weeks to make a direct impression on your "B" and "C" list prospects, how can you make sure those follow-up calls have the greatest possible impact? |
