Baseball and Leadership
| |
| Baseball is a game that rewards the clever. As with adaptability, baseball games often hinge on the smallest and most ingenious plays. A pick-off at first base. A hit and run with two outs. A squeeze bunt. Leaders too will be rewarded for cleverness. Rather than simply replicating the results of predecessors or maintaining the status quo, the modern leader is required to seek different and creative methods and solutions. |

Your Mindset Drives Your Vitality
| |
| You've heard the same stories I've heard, of people who overcame physical limitations, or even beat diseases, in a way that seems miraculous. Personally, I would not bet against a divine intervention in these cases. But you can't help but notice that people who beat long odds are almost always those who cultivate in themselves an attitude of optimism, a positive spirit, and an expectation of success.... |

Don't Drive in the Dark
| |
| We recently utilized our airpower against Libya arguably by numerous people from both side of the aisle without an End Game. To me, that is like driving in the dark. At that point we have no idea of the outcome. Without lights, euphuism for an End Game, the odds are not in our favor. You don’t get up in the morning and get in your car without knowing exactly what your destination is. That is what an End Game is all about; what exactly is your destination. You can’t run a company effectively, maximizing all opportunity without creating a long term plan. And, there is no such thing as a long term plan that will work without a defined End Game.
The Libya situation reminds me of what I often see in companies every day. It’s either a lack of serious long term planning or the lack of a defined End Game. |

No, they're remembered as heroes because they felt the full measure of fear about the near-impossible feats they were about to undertake, and they knew the long odds associated with the incredible personal risks they were about to take... but they did it anyway.... |

Does Size Matter when Selling a business? (Size of the business?)
| |
| Those are good odds if you are playing the lottery, but when you are trying to maximize profits on one of the biggest investments of your life, these odds could leave you in financial ruin. That is why I want to emphasize a number of items. The reason why the above statistics are currently an industry standard is because the amount of buyers increase with the number of employees, amount of revenue, and the amount of cash-flow (profit) that you have. |
