6. For-profit and NGO training activities
There are two basic types of private sector training institutions (PSTI) - for-profit and not-for- profit. For-profit PSTIs usually focus on the sale of training services. With economic liberalisation, most governments have adopted a more positive attitude towards PSTIs and have, therefore, taken steps to create a more enabling environment. Many NGOs are only involved in income generation and other activities (advocacy, life skills) where skills development is mainly on a learning-by-doing/learning-by-earning basis.

When it comes to money, churches are getting smart.

Setting Records and Attaining Lasting Achievement
Randy knew Joe from track & field. He told a story of one track meet. Joe arrived late. As a member of ROTC and the reserves he had parachuted twice that morning and then rushed to the track meet. Once arriving at Pacific Lutheran University in nearby Parkland, he took part in the one hundred yard dash, the 220, anchored the 440, and did everything but give out towels. He took first place in each of seven events. How many people would have just stopped at jumping out of the airplane?

Persistence
My dream to be a speaker was born in 1952 . . . . However, it wasn't until 1968 that I was able to go full-time in the business, and it wasn't until 1972 that my career really took off. In those intervening years, I was privileged to read a large number of excellent books and listen to outstanding speakers as I traveled countless miles driving to the "freebies" that I conducted. During this period my skills as a communicator slowly developed and my experience produced real-life stories and lessons that I shared with audiences of all kinds and sizes. I spoke to civic clubs, schools, rehab centers, prisons, churches--to virtually any group that permitted me to share with them.

Does the Building Owner Insure My Apartment?
Do I need Apartment Renters Insurance, Coop Insurance, and Condo Insurance? In my daily routine I communicate with dozens of people looking for insurance, or looking to protect themselves from loss or damage. Typical requests span from $5000 cars to restaurants, churches multi-million dollar buildings. When they are done explaining what they are looking to insure, how much they are looking to insure it for and what they what it insured against, my next question is always, “Who insures your home?”

The Key to You Team's Success is Communication!
One of the number one reasons companies, organizations, families, churches and sales teams fail or succeed is the quality and consistency of their communication. Learn more, read on...

Many Evangelical Church Leaders are now having to "Walk by Faith"
The growth of U.S. evangelical churches has been fueled by the increase in credit flowing to churches in the form of five-year commercial mortgages with minimal monthly payments. Now, delinquency rates have more than doubled since the end of 2007 and mortgage originations have slumped because of a decline in financing.

How do Churches Cope with the Recession?
Some scoffers find it hard to believe that churches not only get through hard times but that they actually grow in members and tithes and “donations” from existing church members. The press has always been antagonistic towards the Christian church so what I say here will probably be fodder for some good laughs for non-believers, but I will say it anyway. It is not their favor that I seek.

Does Recession Hinder Churches?
When people are hurting financially, spiritually, grieving a loss, and going through other hard times, they will often turn to the church for guidance even if they are not church-goers. Most churches have benevolence committees and funds used to help the needy year round but from Thanksgiving on through the holidays, more requests come in for help than any other time of year. With the recession, churches are being hard hit for assistance. Some churches have food pantries, clothes closets; some can help with power bills, pay for medicine and other ways in which the needy require and request help. When church members are hurting from similar experiences, their church families will surround them with love and whatever assistance they might need. My church in the past has paid my heating bill because I got laid off and needed help.
