My call: Snow Leopard by July, quad-core iMacs by October
Kaufman Brothers analyst Shaw Wu thinks Mac OS X 10.6 (“Snow Leopard”) may not arrive until late summer or early fall. I think the beast will begin prowling in the June-July time period. However, I agree withe Wu that we’ll see a quad-core iMac before year’s end that will capitalize on Snow Leopard’s beefed up support for multiple core processors.

Let’s hope that the Macworld Expo lives on
Apple has bowed out of all upcoming Macworld Conferences & Expos. But let's hope the annual event lives on.

Time for Apple to release a 25th anniversary Mac
The Mac turns 25 this year. And Super Bowl Sunday would be the perfect (symbolically, at least) time for Apple to run an ad for a 25th anniversary Mac.

Don't Be Casual
Coming out of the Venture Capital in the Rockies conference, I was pleasantly surprised with how solid most of the presentations were. There was plenty of pre-conference preparation, practice, and iteration from the companies presenting – and it showed.

The Conference Commando
Do you attend business conferences? How much planning do you do beforehand? Where is the value in the conference for you. Andy Lopata looks at a recent event he attended and how he made it the most rewarding conference of his career.

Press Conferences
It's important to know when to hold a press conference. If you think that a press conference is the way to go, nine times out of ten you're going to be wrong.

Macworld Expo should change venues, dates in the future
It's probably a good thing that Macworld Expo 2010 is moving from January to February. With Apple not attending, however, it won't be the same show as before. And I think IDG, the folks behind the event, should consider more changes in the future, including a change of venue.

HR Technology Conference- Closing Thoughts
Last Friday I was able to participate in the final day of the HR Technology Conference in Chicago. I've shared some of my thoughts on the benefits of attending the conference from the perspective of networking and today I'd like to share some ideas about the sessions I was able to attend and some general thoughts on the conference:

Learned a Marketing Lesson at the AME Conference
The relationship to that concept was demonstrated at the AME Conference. The attendees and exhibitors have been thru the top section of the hourglass and now are in the bottom half. Not to sound too clinical, but they were the Buyers of the program. The next step in the funnel is the Repeat stage. AME started marketing the next conference in Baltimore immediately after you signed up for this one.

Price is what you pay. Value is what you get.
I recently had the pleasure of attending and speaking at the 6th CIPS Australasia Annual Conference for the procurement profession. It was my third invitation to speak at a CIPSA event in my capacity as a professional representing the sales profession. The theme for this conference was ‘Managing Volatility’. A key message I gleaned from the conference was Value Management rather than the narrow band width of Cost Management.

Are press conferences dead?
Despite some opinions, the press conference is still alive. Here are some examples of when holding a press conference may be a good idea.

Macworld/iWorld -- It's The Event, Not the Tradeshow
This year's Macworld made us feel like we were visiting an old and ailing relative in the hospital. You felt obliged to go but didn't really like it because you remember when they were younger, more vital. Macworld/iWorld may not be close to drawing its final breath but a lot of rethinking, repositioning, investment will have to take place to make it a new, exciting, vital event. There's a place for it in the business world but someone will have to rethink what the iPhone, iPad, Mac system(s) are beyond neat devices to carry around and show off your latest game download.
