JetBlue
| |
| I just had to write about JetBlue and the leadership of it's CEO David Neeleman. When something comes at me from 10 different directions, I get all esoteric and believe I should take a hard look at whatever is coming in. It's kind of like the universe is trying to tell me something. For those who did not see the article in last month's INC. Magazine or this month's Fast Company Magazine or the book that's written about him, let alone someone that you know who has experienced Neeleman serving them a snack on one of his flights, I'll condense what this guy is all about and the results he's having thus far. Since most of this readership is results oriented I'll begin with the end. Jetblue is an airline with more than 6,000 employees and 57 twin-engine jets. |

Organizational "Strange Actractors"
| |
|

Subway ranked No 1 Global Franchise Opportunity

The Milford-based restaurant chain recently was recognized by the national publication as the No. 1 franchise opportunity for 2010, marking the 17th time out of the past 23 years that it has received the distinction. It also has been recognized by the magazine for the past several years as the No. 1 global franchise of the year. |

The Internet's Marketing Silver Bullet
| |
| Appearing in the Wall Street Journal, Time magazine, Oprah, CNN, or even in a local or regional media outlet can immediately separate you and your business from all of your competitors. Now that you have news coverage you can take that TV segment or magazine or newspaper article and magnify it online via blogs, and social media. This is where traditional PR becomes the Internet’s silver bullet; the most important marketing tool available. |

A is for Advertising
| |
| When I first started Exceptional Thinking, just about everybody told me that I should do some advertising and to be honest, that’s what I thought I should do too. After all, that’s what businesses do to promote their products and services don’t they?
So, dutifully I advertised. First in a business magazine that resulted in nothing, then in a local community magazine – again nothing and then finally (I was learning my lesson at this point) in the local paper. Nothing there either.

A Personal 'Mission Statement' Spells Success!
| |
| One of the latest "techniques for success" is the personal mission statement. Motivational and management gurus say these can be as effective in our own lives as they are in organizations. The real question is, how well do they really work in organizations? So often, after all the committees have fiddled with these statements, they end up as vague, watered-down platitudes that are quickly forgotten. So does that spell success, for either organizations or for us personally? |
