China’s Shares May Be the First to Turn Upward!
| |
| China has been the "least beaten up" of the countries throughout the global slow down. So this, coupled with a huge amount of government spending there, could push the Shanghai index and the ETF (symbol: CAF) higher. |

How Do I Keep My Business Afloat?
| |
| "Plants don't want to die."
Doug Maurer, Brian-Kyles Construction
I was talking with my good friend Doug Maurer the other day. Doug is the founder and owner of Brian-Kyles Construction, which is a landscaping company based in Northeast Ohio.
Doug was talking with me about a plant in my front yard that wasn't doing so well. He was explaining how I should cut the shrub down to its base to re-balance the plant so the roots were larger than the plant itself. And then he said the quote above regarding plants not wanting to die.
It got me to thinking about how businesses are a lot like plants. Businesses don't want to die either. This is particularly true of small businesses. |

Some Dangers of PERT Charts
| |
| Many companies use PERT charts to track the progress of projects. These charts show the major milestones in complex projects and develop a “critical path” through the ones that must not slip or the entire project suffers. Depending on your job, you may be exposed to these. They are used extensively in military projects and large construction projects. The more sweeping and complex a project is, the more useful a network representation can be. There are some precautions that I will describe here. |

A Better Approach to Career Coaching: Putting Your Natural Skills to Work

America's Business economy grows because of the Transportation system
| |
| To say the least, we take for granted this phenomenal achievement and seldom take a moment to step back and marvel of the technological achievement of providing speedy, safe, well made and well maintained highways so you can drive swiftly from one major city to another at high rates of speed and even reach grandma’s house in her small rural town on some form of modern paved road. Why if you were somehow able to gather up all those miles of road and put them into one building to get a feel for how much construction it would take, the odds are you would not be able to see the top of that skyscraper and if you stood on the top of it, you would die from lack of oxygen.

Why All The Interest in Detroit?
| |
| Is Detroit going through some very tough times? Yes. And that is precisely why there is an opportunity. For example, when the construction industry was booming, heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders and the like could only be purchased at retail prices. When the construction market collapsed, suddenly you could buy those same pieces of heavy equipment for pennies on the dollar. That was an opportunity for those who had the means to take advantage and buy while the market was down. |
