Lesson #1: Slay the Dragons Standing In Your Way
| |
| Today, there are hundreds of millions of Harry Potter books in print around the world. Each book in Rowling’s series has also been on The New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestseller lists. But when Rowling first began to seriously pursue her writing career, the story was a much different one than that. |

Lesson #2: Put a Little Magic into Your Thinking
| |
| When Rowling first approached publishers with her manuscript about a boy wizard, she was welcomed with a barrage of criticism. Many of those criticisms she could do little about. When and How to Get Feedback on Your Book-in-Progress
| |
| If you’re writing a book, eventually you need to get feedback on your writing skills, the material itself, and whether or not your goals were accomplished in the manuscript. After all, the goal of writing a book is to communicate with readers, and if no one has read your book at press time, you’ll never know whether your message is perceived the way you intend it to be perceived.
