Acccccccelerated Learning: The [Remarkable] Power of Screwing Up
| |
| I had a chance to preview Dan Coyle's forthcoming The Talent Code: Unlocking the Secret of Skill in Sports, Art, Music, Math, and Just About Anything. In short, I thought the book was a marvel—explaining pockets of amazing talent, such as Brazil and football-soccer, and, based in part on new findings in neuroscience, turning conventional ideas about teaching and learning on their head. I'll have more to say when The Talent Code appears, and Dan, I hope, will consent to becoming a Cool Friend. In a rather trivial (however, not to me at the time) way I had a chance to practice parts of what Dan discovered—and was stunned at the efficacy of his findings in this small case. |

Cell phones...Conveniently dangerous
| |
| April 3rd,2009 marked the 36th anniversary of the cellphone. A man named Martin Cooper placed the first call ever on a cell phone when he was at Motorola, as Gen. Mgr.Communications Div.
The first cell phone was the size of we remember a satellite telephone looking like. How far we have come since then!
Today, you can fit a cell phone in the palm of your hand(try that with a satellite phone. Today, billions of cell phones are in use worldwide, from your urban cities to the most remote corners of the world.
Cell phones are very convenient. Perhaps too convenient. Many accident fatalities on the road are attributable to drivers talking while they drive. Even pedestrians are oblivious as they cross the streets, yapping away on their cells.
Don't lose your head as you use this technological marvel called the cell phone....stay tuned. |

Making it Real
| |
| An old friend of mine shared, "I marvel at what my friends teach me". She wasn't talking about learning from her many friends how to improve her gardening skills or understanding more deeply the complexities of politics. She was addressing the emotional charges, the judgmental thoughts, the highs and lows of relating to others and what she learns about herself through such exchanges. She holds herself 100% accountable for her growth in relating to others from a place of real curiosity and a commitment to love. |

A Conversation With Comic Book Legend Jerry Robinson
| |
| On my blog Panel Surfing I endeavor to talk about the last true AMerican art form, the comic book, and especially original comic art. I was very fortunate to get an interview with Jerry Robinson - the man who created The Joker and Robin along with Bill Finger for Bob Kane's Batman way back in the early 40's - the Golden Age of Comics. But that is just the beginning of Jerry's accomplishments. |

America's Business economy grows because of the Transportation system
| |
| To say the least, we take for granted this phenomenal achievement and seldom take a moment to step back and marvel of the technological achievement of providing speedy, safe, well made and well maintained highways so you can drive swiftly from one major city to another at high rates of speed and even reach grandma’s house in her small rural town on some form of modern paved road. Why if you were somehow able to gather up all those miles of road and put them into one building to get a feel for how much construction it would take, the odds are you would not be able to see the top of that skyscraper and if you stood on the top of it, you would die from lack of oxygen.

Eye on the Ball
| |
| Like millions of people around the globe, I've been enjoying the World Series featuring my beloved St. Louis Cardinals, and at the same time, savoring a great football season.
We all marvel at the talent and skill of professional athletes but, sometimes, it is baffling why the most highly-trained and talented people anywhere will fail to catch the most routine ball that comes to them. These are players who, in many cases, are paid millions of dollars a year for the sole purpose of catching a ball. And yet, on a significant number of occasions, they drop a ball that could have been caught by a Little League player.

Get Success on the Internet Through Live Support Software
| |
| The reason why live chat is perceived as a modern-day customer communication and customer satisfaction marvel that scores over the telephone is because customers are able to preserve their privacy when using live support software on a website. Granted, there is IP tracking which tells you volumes about your online chat customers but it isn't the same as caller ID. |
