Why Should I Care About the SBA? - Mash Bonigala
| |
| Most business owners know that SBA stands for Small Business Administration, but I wonder how many of us know more than that. The SBA mission statement is to to maintain and strengthen the nation's economy by enabling the establishment and viability of small businesses and by assisting in the economic recovery of communities after disasters." Well, that sounds all fine and good but how do they accomplish that goal and how can they help me overcome my business challenges? The SBA is organized into many different offices and each of those offices has the directive to complete the mission of the SBA as a whole. Here is a list of the different SBA offices: |

"Bottom-line" Culture vs. a Healthy One?
| |
| Since the mid-90's, research has shown that when people love their job and get great value out of the experience, productivity and profits are up, turn-over and burn-out are down.
In fact, I recommend organizations consciously use fun as a cultural expectation, because it will increase employee and customer retention/relations, motivate individuals/teams, and ultimately improve overall productivity. |

Tellywood Works to Reach You Any, Every Way They Can
| |
| NAB is still sorta about TV and movies...but with a difference.
The difference is huge. They're trying to figure out how to hook you up with their content, stuff, rather than letting the other guy suck you in. So they're trying all the angles smartphone, tablet, notebook. Heck even the TV and theater.
Seems as though you've given up work, exercise, just about everything to watch content anytime, anywhere, anyhow.
They haven't figured out exactly how to make money on it all yet but they do like what Netflix has done over the past year. Maybe they'll try their own channels of distribution shortly...maybe.

Storage is All About Performance ... Plus
| |
| Semiconductor media (commonly called flash or SSD) delivers all the speed, performance consumers want and demand...at a price. The alternative to keep pace with people's thirst for more and more content is hard drive storage...lots and lots of hard drive storage. Content continues to be produced, distributed, mashed up, viewed, enjoyed, stored. The cloud isn't the answer because ultimately content comes to rest in someone's huge storage facility (endless rows of drives) and bad guys come in and borrow the informaiton they want/need for their "business." Keeping a good balance between flash speed and hard drive capacity requires practice...lots and lots of practice.

10 Steps To Getting Up and Running Selling On Ebay
| |
| Ebay has taken a lot of bashing lately for changing its policies. When the latest round of changes were announced, the powers that be at Ebay were accused of being everything from architects of evil to lousy businesspeople--at least from the point of view of many long-term Ebay sellers. But in many ways the new and "some say" improved Ebay does provide a better experience for the buyer, which means that in the long-run, quality sellers offering quality products--and the wonderful mish-mash of eclectic junk that made Ebay a mecca for collectors in the first place--will find their businesses more profitable. If you ever wanted to try your luck starting a Home business on Ebay, or just putting your company's products on sale there as an added outlet...now is the time to begin. |

Entrepreneuers Beware: -- Cool is not enough
| |
| Every entrepreneur should watch this movie at least three times.
I watched Cool Hand Luke on TV the other night. It is an old movie (1967) staring Paul Newman in the lead role along with George Kennedy. There is an assortment of other actors who I recognized more by their voices than their very young faces - including Wayne Rogers from the MASH TV series, and Dennis Hopper.
The story is set in 1948 at a Southern US chain-gang prison. It lives up to the label of a classic movie - enjoyable to watch and full of powerful messages.

Creative Content Inspiration or Imitation?
| |
| In this era of mash ups, appropriation, homages, re-makes, the boundaries of creative content ownership are getting pretty blurred. A recent billboard campaign in Times Square, New York sparked a massive online debate recently. The eye-catching advertisement was a live video of Times Square. Into shot now and then walks an attractive young woman (wearing clothing from Forever21, the brand being advertised). The women interact in various ways with the video such as take a polaroid photo, pick people up and put them in their bag. It is exciting augmented reality (AR) technology. But it was not the first time the same concept had been used
