Managerial Styles
| |
| Managerial styles vary from individual to individual in a work environment. Really it is an individual's choice to decide what sort of management style they choose to adopt. Anyone who says otherwise is really just copping out and making excuses for laziness. This might sound harsh, but it has been said by more than one manager that "this is my style, it's just how I am" and no adjustments have ever been made to improve on that style. Here are some management styles that might help you to better understand and improve your own.

Lesson #5: Help Others to Help Yourself
| |
| “Any society begins by realizing that together, by helping each other, you can survive better than if you fight each other and compete with each other,” says Lucas. “We have the tendency to lose it when we forget that, as a group, we are stronger than we are as individuals.” |

Lesson #3: Go Big or Go Home
| |
| “If you’re not a risk taker, you should get the hell out of business,” Kroc once said. He didn’t build a franchise empire with over 3,000 stores in just ten years by sitting back and repeating the same formula that had worked once over and over again. Instead, Kroc strove to constantly improve his company and retain his place at the forefront of the industry by taking advantage of new opportunities. Even when there was big risk involved, Kroc stared the gamble in the face and rolled the dice. |

Why 75% of Women Struggle to Succeed in Business
| |
| When you look at the list of what women 'do' in their businesses it looks something like this..
1. General administration
2. Email
3. Website maintenance
4. Phone calls
5. Marketing
6. Social Networking
7. Client work
8. Bookkeeping
9. Running errands
plus much much more.
Of course this 'to do' list is similar to what men 'do' in business, however the woman in business is also responsible for the personal side of life. Having children and partners plus take care of the household can consume your day without even going anywhere near their business!
The biggest barrier to their success is they often try to 'do' everything themselves, which is impossible. While they are 'doing' the day-day basics, there's no time to work 'on' the business. There's no time to look after their no. 1 asset... themselves. |

The Law of being left behind
| |
| The Law of being left behind, suggests that if someone else buys a products or service, it must be valuable enough to buy for ourselves. This belief transforms into a subconscious need to acquire the product or service, simply because someone else has it. And when you get a group of likeminded people together in a buying environment, all it ever takes is one person to buy to set 'The Law of being left behind' in motion. The converse is also true, if not one person puts their hand up to buy - no one else in the group will buy. Why? There is no leader, the pack isn't moving in any particular direction, therefore there is no need to move - the safest move is no move at all. |

Work From Home Business Means Giving Up Your Day Job Mentality
| |
| Work from home business and a day job mentality are opposites that do not attract. A job mentality is getting up in the morning and going out to put in an 8 and one half hour work day. When the work day is done you come home to relax, put your feet up and forget about the workplace until the next day when you start all over again. The tasks you are expected to carry out are clearly identified when you accept the job. All of that changes when you work for yourself. Dreaming of a home based business often includes a scene where you are sitting in an easy chair sipping coffee or your favorite beverage with the phone at your side. If that phone is not ringing off the hook then you are dreaming about a vacation not a home based business business. You must understand that owning a work from home business means giving up your day job mentality. |

Using Articles in Marketing For Small Business
| |
|
Here’s a quick business-marketing lesson. In business you spend a lot of time building your brand to let people know you exist and to attract clients to you. This is done via “push strategies” where you are pushing your brand into their awareness – such as advertising/direct mail/yellow pages and “pull strategies”. Pull strategies are gentler. It’s where you attract people to you ... because they want something they know you have or you can offer them.

Rudeness in the Workplace
| |
| Contemporary business more resembles a paint ball exercise than a human service experience. Marketing ploys are spattered across the media in the hope of snagging our attention. However, we are in a global economy, and our social skills need remedial attention. Social skills have not been transferred to the last two generations as a group like technology has. For example, think about how many Gen X and Y’s know how to set a dining table or how to cut their meat.
News flash: high-level careers have been sabotaged by just such “unnecessary” information.
In the interest of “the bottom line” thinking that dominates American business, we’ve lost the most meaningful tool we have, the human connection.
I’d enjoy hearing your thoughts on observations and episodes you’ve had on the topic. Thank you.
