All Websites Are International
| |
| Tip O'Neill, the late Speaker of The House of Representatives is often quoted as saying "All politics is local," meaning a politician that helps a constituent with a problem is likely to win that vote based on the personal assistance provided, irrespective of that politician's stance on the larger, more weighty, geo-political issues. What then of business, is all business local or international? |

Beware Time Liabilities
| |
| Are you surrounded by Time Liabilities? I define a Time Liability as:
a) anything that consumes time unnecessarily or
b) anything that causes you to spend time in activities that are less profitable than your most profitable activity.
If your filing system causes you to spend extra time doing $9 per hour clerical work, trying to find that important document you misplaced, then you have a Time Liability. If your workspace is so uncomfortable that you have to spend time at a chiropractor every month to correct your spine alignment problems, you definitely have a Time Liability! |

Doing what you love priceless even at minimum wage
| |
| It has been said that if you find something to do that you love, you will never have to work a day as long as you live, and I believe that with all my heart. Why, do I believe that is true, because I have been lucky enough to find that twice in my life--once offline and now online--and to watch as my oldest son found it too. Someone said that I seemed a bit prejudiced in favor on online business, but let me you that is simply not the case at all. My favorite business of all was actually my brick and mortar used bookstore. It probably never paid me much more than minimum wage considering the hours I put in, and sometimes not even that much, but it was the absolute perfect business for me...at least until the Internet came along. |

It’s Not about Unemployment – It’s about Employability
| |
| Employers are discovering increasing numbers of high school graduates who cannot do “applied” math, perform basic measurements and fill out job applications. In other words, “they are graduates who are not employable.”Our culture and our education system are only producing a small percentage of individuals who are taking a “challenging curriculum” so they are truly prepared for the rigors of college or a knowledge-based workplace.” We must understand that our new concern is not unemployment but “employability!” |

Minimum wage – good or bad for business?
| |
| The questions around the minimum wage are always going to create a heated discussion and in my opinion is just another way for governments and usually socialist style governments to control the economy and turn things in to a nanny state!
What is a minimum wage?
The minimum wage is the lowest hourly, daily or monthly wage that employers may legally pay to their employees. Minimum wage laws also prevent workers from selling their labour at an amount which is lower than the minimum wage level. Those that defend and advocate a minimum wage say that it increases the standard of living of workers and also reduces poverty. |

Spending and Saving
| |
| Whether you make millions of dollars a year or earn minimum wage, there are only three things you can do with your money: You can spend it, save it, or give it away.
Your spending may range from absolute necessities to outrageous luxuries. Your savings may be prudent investments or coins in your piggy bank. Piece work, and piece rate payment. Is this a strategy for your organization?
| |
| The purpose of piece rates is to motivate employee performance in return for a monetary reward. A simple, valid concept which is centuries old. Incentives are effective employee motivators because most people go to work for money in the first place. But incentives also benefit a company. This article explains why, and how piece rate pay systems can help your organization. Please keep in mind that piece rates don't replace minimum wage laws. But piece rates will often insure that actual labor costs match budgeted costs more closely.
